Fracture Of The Lateral Tibial Condyle With Depression Of The Articular Surface - A Case Report, Krzysztof Ficek, Paulina Cyganik, Magdalena Strozik, Anna Serniak, Joanna Rajca
Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity
Background: Fractures of the proximal epiphysis of the tibia constitute one of the more frequently occurring types of sports injuries, and at the moment constitute about 1% of all reported bone fractures. They appear mainly as a result of traffic accidents, falls from heights, as well as being observed in groups of physically active people whose disciplines involve high-impact landings. From time to time, improperly executed movements or steps without falling result in injury. Case Report: We present a case study of a 21-year-old male football player with fracture of the lateral tibia condyle with indentation of articular surface. The …

Recurrent Patellar Fracture in a Healthy Collegiate Basketball Player: An Exploration Clinical Case Report
ABSTRACT
Purpose: Patellar fractures only account for approximately 1% of all skeletal injuries. Patellar fractures usually result from direct trauma (i.e. falling on the knee, dashboard injury, etc.), or, less frequently, occur as a combination of direct and indirect mechanism (i.e. receiving a direct blow while contracting the quadriceps). While indirect trauma is the least common mechanism, it usually occurs due to an extensor mechanism failure during eccentric loading such as landing. Method: Case report, Level 3: Exploration Clinical Contribution to the Available Sources of Evidence …

Bone Fracture Incidence, Measurement And Adaptation: An Exploration Through The Continuum From Incidence To Measurement And Adaptation, Mark Jenkins
Theses: Doctorates and Masters
This research encompasses four studies exploring bone adaptation, fracture incidence, and preventative measures to decrease fracture risk and increase bone health. Study one was a clinical audit exploring incidence rates for appendicular fractures in children in Western Australia over ten years. Diagnostic and remedial approaches were explored in studies two, three and four by examining the between-day reliability of upper limb scans; reliability of the osteogenic index (OI) for upper-body strength and power exercises; and the diagnostic value or utility of using pQCT in disease profiling, respectively. Fracture rates in the limbs of children were found to be increasing each …
