INTRODUCTION: As the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic continues to evolve, we face new variants of concern with a concurrent decline in vaccine booster uptake. We aimed to evaluate the difference in immunity gained from the original SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine series in pregnancy versus SARS-CoV-2 exposure during pregnancy against recent variants of concern.

The impact and safety of phytoestrogens, plant-derived isoflavones with estrogenic activity predominantly present in soy, on female reproductive health and IVF outcomes continues to be hotly debated. In this prospective cohort study, 60 women attending IVI-RMA New Jersey undergoing IVF with single frozen embryo transfer (SET/FET) of good-quality euploid blastocyst after PGT-A analysis were recruited. The preoperative diagnosis of pelvic masses has been elusive to date. Methods for characterization such as CA-125 have had limited specificity. We hypothesize that genomic variation can be used to create prediction models which accurately distinguish high grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) from benign tissue.

Methods: In this retrospective, pilot study, we extracted DNA and RNA from HGSC specimens and from benign fallopian tubes. Then, we performed whole exome sequencing and RNA sequencing, and identified single nucleotide variants (SNV), copy number variants (CNV) and structural variants (SV). OBJECTIVE: We sought a shortened MOTHER neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and Finnegan score that would retain comparable performance characteristics of the full instrument.

STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort.

RESULTS: In total, 124,170 MOTHER NAS scores between August 2007 and May 2016 from 775 infants (≥36 weeks) were examined. Classification and regression tree model identified the most important subsets of the scored variables. A 9-element shortened scale yielded >90% sensitivity and specificity to predict clinical endpoints based on the full 19-element MOTHER NAS score. METHODS: In a retrospective cohort, we analyzed singleton, vertex births at 36 weeks of gestation or greater without prior cesarean delivery (n=43,810 nulliparous and 59,605 multiparous women). OBJECTIVE: To assess the role of smoking on low birth weight (LBW). STUDY DESIGN: From Massachusetts for 1998, 79,904 birth certificates were reviewed. Birth weight, gestational age, plurality and maternal race were analyzed in relation to the mother's smoking status during the pregnancy. The etiologic fraction (EF) was calculated for smoking and LBW for the group as a whole as well as for various subgroups. RESULTS: A total of 11.7% of women acknowledged smoking during pregnancy. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate basal anti-Mullerian hormone as a marker for ovarian responsiveness to fertility treatment. STUDY DESIGN: Frozen basal menstrual cycle day 3 serum samples were evaluated retrospectively for anti-Mullerian hormone, inhibin B, and follicle-stimulating hormone levels in 123 in vitro fertilization cycles (93 patients) and compared with in vitro fertilization records. PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of the cumulative exposure to estradiol (E(2)) during the follicular phase on IVF outcome.

METHODS: Patients were stimulated with recombinant FSH after GnRH agonist suppression and had a day 3-embryo transfer. Estrogen exposure was determined as the area under the curve (AUC) for serum E(2) levels measured from the first day of stimulation through the day after hCG administration.

Pregnancies with mean yolk sac diameter>or=5 mm on early ultrasound require monitoring and counseling about a threefold increased risk for first-trimester loss independent of maternal risk factors such as age, body mass index, polycystic ovary syndrome, smoking, and diabetes. In addition, our study shows for the first time that enlarged yolk sac diameter may be associated with an increased risk of preterm delivery.

OBJECTIVE: To identify the prevalence of vulvar and vaginal symptoms during pregnancy and at 3 months post partum. METHODS: A prospective, longitudinal, descriptive study of 103 pregnant women was undertaken in which a self-administered questionnaire was completed at each trimester and 3 months post partum. Retrospective data was collected from 122 women, queried using similar tools, who comprised a nonpregnant control group. Descriptive and comparative statistics were employed. RESULTS: The prevalence of vulvar burning, itching, pain, and vaginal discharge generally increased during pregnancy, and improved postpartum. OBJECTIVES: To compare costs and complications associated with ultrasound-guided hysteroscopy vs laparoscopy-guided hysteroscopy vs hysteroscopy alone for the surgical repair of intrauterine septa and synechiae. METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study. Charts of all patients undergoing reparative surgery for intrauterine synechiae or uterine septa at our academic institution between 2000 and 2008 were reviewed. A total of 159 procedures were included in the study, categorized into concurrent laparoscopic guidance (n = 69), ultrasound guidance (n = 52) or no guidance (n = 38).
