Prototype Internet Consultation System For Radiologists, Boris Kovalerchuk, James F. Ruiz, Evgenii Vityaev, Steven Fisher

All Faculty Scholarship for the College of the Sciences

The overall purpose of this study is to develop a prototype radiological consultation system. We concentrate our work on prototype software environment for the system. The system provides a second diagnostic opinion based on similar cases, incorporating the experience of radiologists, their diagnostic rules and a database of previous cases. The system allows a radiologist to enter the description of a particular case using the lexicon such as BI-RADS of American College of Radiology and retrieve the second diagnostic opinion (probable diagnosis) for a given case. The system also allows a radiologist to get other important information too. These advances …

Modelling Medical Decisions In Dynamol: A New General Framework Of Dynamic Decision Analysis, Tze-Yun Leong, Cungen Cao Aug 1998

Modelling Medical Decisions In Dynamol: A New General Framework Of Dynamic Decision Analysis, Tze-Yun Leong, Cungen Cao

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Dynamic decision analysis concerns decision problems in which both time and uncertainty are explicitly considered. We present a new dynamic decision analysis framework, called DynamoL, that supports graphical presentation of the decision factors in multiple perspectives. To alleviate the difficulty in assessing conditional probabilities over time in dynamic decision models, DynaMoL incorporates a Bayesian learning system to automatically learn the probabilistic parameters from large medical databases. We describe the DynaMoL modeling and learning architecture through a medical decision problem on the optimal follow-up schedule for patients after curative colorectal cancer surgery. We also show that the modeling experience and results …

Biometrics : An Exploration And Analysis Of User Acceptance Issues, Brendan J. O'Loughlin Jan 1998

Biometrics : An Exploration And Analysis Of User Acceptance Issues, Brendan J. O'Loughlin

Theses : Honours

The security industry has undergone dramatic growth over the last twenty years due to a burgeoning of demand for security products and services. The protection of people, assets and information has been prominent among the concerns of business, industry and the broader community. Crimes against domestic, commercial, and industrial premises, small and large, are a commonplace occurrence and security has therefore become an essential component of any facility's continual operation. The security industry has been quick to respond to these concerns through the rapid development of a wide range of products and services. Growth in security as an academic discipline …
