Diagnostic Detail: Understanding The Impact Of Tooth Rotation In Correcting Mucogingival Defects, Trevor Simmonds Dds, Stephanie M. Chu Dmd, Mike Roig Dmd, Kristian T. Poventud Dmd
The New York State Dental Journal
Introduction: The subepithelial connective tissue graft (S-CTG) is the gold standard in achieving root coverage but is not without limitations. The Acellular Dermal Matrix (ADM) is an alternative source that can compensate for the S-CTG’s limitations. Body: Severe recession type 1 (RT1) defects were treated with a combined approach of autogenous and allogeneic soft tissue grafting, optimizing the benefits of both types of materials, in order to achieve maximum root coverage (MRC). Conclusion: Identifying the anatomical limitations of gingival recession as it relates to tooth rotation and its impact on vascular supply will best prepare both the clinician and patient …

AIM: Telemedicine has emerged as a potential solution to enhance postoperative follow-up care after dental implant surgery, offering the convenience of remote monitoring and reduced need for in-person visits.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Participants were randomly assigned to either the telemedicine group (n = 15) or the in-person group (n = 15). In the telemedicine group, patients received remote follow-up care through virtual consultations, during which they could communicate their concerns and share images of the surgical site. The in-person group received standard in-person follow-up visits. Patient satisfaction was measured using a standardized survey, with responses collected on a Likert scale. …

Impaired Neutrophil Extracellular Trap-Forming Capacity Contributes To Susceptibility To Chronic Vaginitis In A Mouse Model Of Vulvovaginal Candidiasis, Junko Yano, Paul L. Fidel
School of Dentistry Faculty Publications
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), caused by is characterized by aberrant inflammation by polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) in the vaginal lumen. Data from the established murine model shows that despite potent antifungal properties, PMNs fail to clear due to local heparan sulfate that inhibits the interaction between PMNs and , resulting in chronic vaginal immunopathology. To understand the role of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in defense against at the vaginal mucosa, we investigated the NET-forming capacity of PMNs in chronic VVC-susceptible (CVVC-S/C3H) and -resistant (CVVC-R/CD-1) mouse strains. Immunofluorescence revealed the formation of NETs (release of DNA with PMN-derived antimicrobial proteins) in PMN cocultures …

Background: Several treatment options are planned for completely edentulous patients rehabilitation which were developed to meet patients desires and requirements, starting from conventional complete denture till implant supported fixed full arch cases. Each technique has its own indication and limitations. Passive fit is an important factor for the long-term success of implant- prosthesis, which necessitate accurate transfer of the implant position. Recently, digital impressions have been introduced in dental implant treatment. By the use of scan body and different optical scanning methods, the position of scan bodies can be transferred to a virtual implant position within the dental arch. Material …

Abstract
Introduction: Cephalometric x-ray is considered as a crucial step in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. However, patients nowadays, especially those pursuing cosmetic goals, are concerned about radiation dosages as a result of increased understanding. Therefore, the aim of this study is to provide a simple reliable, affordable and reproducible way to evaluate the soft tissue measures for creating an orthodontic treatment plan.
Methods: Comparing standardized profile photographs and lateral cephalograms were obtained from twenty-eight patients with maxillary protrusion of the age group between 14 – 24 years before and after retraction. Evaluation and comparison were done for cephalometric x-ray …

Oral focal mucinosis is a rare lesion with less than 60 cases reported in English literature so far, to the best of our knowledge. It is considered to be the oral counterpart of cutaneous focal mucinosis and/or cutaneous myxoid cyst. Histopathologically, Oral focal mucinosis is demonsterates a well-circumscribed area of myxomatous connective tissue containing mucinous material, surrounded by denser collagenous connective tissue. We present a case of Oral focal mucinosis occurring on the buccal gingiva of the lower jaw.

Introduction: The concept of oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) is of great significance in the three areas of dental health, in particular the clinical practice of dentistry, research, and education. The reported prevalence of gingivitis in various developed countries is considered high. This rate escalates with the increase in age, especially around puberty. There is evidence that gingivitis is associated with the children’s OHRQoL as there are common risk factors between gingivitis’ of adolescence and their consequent OHRQoL.
Aim: This study aims to evaluate the correlation between gingival redness as evaluated by digital photographs and oral health related …

Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance is one of the ten threats identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, since it affects modern healthcare and the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections. Recent estimates of the burden of antimicrobial resistance are very significant, with more than half a million cases of infection with selected antibiotic-resistant bacteria or new emerging resistant pathogens occurring in Europe; of note, data regarding antimicrobial resistance in low-income countries are largely unknown, increasing the overall risk of mortality, in particular in surgical procedures
Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the …

Background The purpose of our current study is to determine whether using a Magnetic Mallet during oral and implant surgical procedures is more effective than using traditional instruments with regard to complication rate, tissue healing, and surgical results (primary stability and crestal bone loss). According to a number of writers, a Magnetic Mallet can be utilized for implant insertion, ridge expansion, sinus lifts, tooth extractions, and implant site preparation.
So, this study was conducted to ascertain whether using a Magnetic Mallet Throughout the process of oral and surgical implant operations is effective and to assume on whether it might help …
