Evaluation Of Functional Therapy Vs Intermaxillary Fixation In Condylar Fracture Treatment, Al-Shaimaa Abd El Aziem, Nahed Adly, Youssef El-Mansi, Ghada Khalifa
Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Purpose: To compare the outcomes after rigid intermaxillary fixation (IMF) versus functional therapy (FT) in patients with mandibular condylar fractures (CFs). Patients and Methods: A prospective comparative study with 3 follow-ups (FU) at 1, 3 and 6 months was undertaken in 2 groups, which exclusively privileged either surgical or conservative treatment due to different therapeutic agendas. Patients from Group1 (GI) received IMF for 10 days, followed by physiotherapy, whereas those in Group2 (GII) had undergone FT for 21 days via guiding elastics. In both groups, all concomitant fractures (if present) were treated by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). Patients …
Assessment Of Transforming Growth Factor-Β1 In Gingival Crevicular Fluid Around Bony Defects Treated With Platelet Rich Fibrin (Prf) System, Rania Nour, Hamdy Nassar, Hala Hazzaa, Mai Attia
Assessment Of Transforming Growth Factor-Β1 In Gingival Crevicular Fluid Around Bony Defects Treated With Platelet Rich Fibrin (Prf) System, Rania Nour, Hamdy Nassar, Hala Hazzaa, Mai Attia
Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Purpose: This study was carried to evaluate and compare the regenerative capacity of PRF mixed with bioactive glass versus PRF mixed with bioactive glass combined with collagen membrane in treatment of intrabony defects. This assessment was based on TGF- β1 concentration in GCF. Patients and materials: A sample of 36 intra bony defects were randomaly divided into; Group I: bioactive glass mixed with PRF. Group II: collagen membrane with bioactive glass mixed with PRF. Group III: open flap debridement only. The GCF TGF-β1 was analyzed by ELIZA at base line, one and three months postoperatively and evaluate the efficacy of …

Assessment Of Osteocalcin In Gingival Crevicular Fluid Around Bony Defect Treated With Platelet Rich Fibrin System, Abeer Taiseer, Hamdy Nassar, Hala Hazza, Mai Attia
Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Purpose: to evaluate the effect of PRF system (PRF mixed with bone graft) in the regeneration of intra-bony defects by assessing osteocalcin in gingival Crevicular fluid. This study was accomplished on periodontal clinical and Radiographic evaluation.Subjects and Methods: A randomized double blind, split-mouth study was undergone on 12 patients with twenty four intrabony defects the selected defects were randomly divided into Group I (Test group): including eight defects that received PRF mixed with grafting material. Group II (Collagen group): including eight defects that received collagen membrane and PRF mixed with grafting material and Group III (Control group): including eight defects …
Evaluation Of Alveolar Ridge Preservation Using A Composite Of Bioactive Glass And Platelet Rich Fibrin Alone Or Combined With Melatonin In Chronic Periodontitis Patient, Eman Ali, Naglaa El Kilani, Halaa Hazzaa
Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Purpose: The aim of this randomized controlled clinical trial was the evaluation of alveolar ridge preservation using a composite of bioactive glass and platelet rich fibrin either alone or combined with melatonin in chronic periodontitis patients. This aim was fulfilled through: Clinical assessment and radiographic assessment. Subjects and Methods: A total of thirty extraction sockets in 29 patients were randomly divided into three groups; control group treated by atraumatic extraction alone, test1 group (application of bioactive glass mixed with PRF) and test 2 group (application of bioactive glass mixed with PRF and melatonin gel). The clinical parameters recorded at baseline, …

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Biological Mechanisms of Lithium separately and in combination with Caffeine in Palatogenesis in Albino Rat Materials and Methods: Thirty six adult rats were used in this study, twenty four female and twelve male rats, after mating procedures and confirmation of pregnancy the pregnant rats were divided into 3 groups :group1(control) , which consists of six pregnant rats and were not receive any medication during gestation, group2’ Which consists of nine pregnant rats and were received prianil (lithium carbonate) 200mg/kg intragasteric During the period of ( 6th to 15th ) day …
Assessment Of Alveolar Bone Status Of Periodontally Involved Teeth After Socket Augmentation Using Xenograft And Platelet Rich Fibrin: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial, Nesma Ahmed, Mai Attia, Eatemad Shoreibah
Assessment Of Alveolar Bone Status Of Periodontally Involved Teeth After Socket Augmentation Using Xenograft And Platelet Rich Fibrin: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial, Nesma Ahmed, Mai Attia, Eatemad Shoreibah
Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Purpose: The aim of this randomized controlled clinical trial was to radiographically evaluate hard tissue changes (bone height, width and density) in periodontally involved teeth after socket augmentation using xenograft with platelet rich fibrin compared to xenograft alone and the natural spontaneous healing. Subjects and Methods: A total of thirty extraction sockets in 18 patients were randomly divided into three groups; group I, treated by combined regenerative periodontal therapy (bone grafting using xenograft combined with platelet rich fibrin membrane).group II, treated by bone grafting using xenograft alone and group III, left untreated without bone graft or membrane placement (Control group). …

Al-Azhar Journal of Dentistry
Objective : The present study was carried out to compare radiographic outcomes of dental implant in type II diabetic patients with or without adjunctive administration of subantimicrobial dose doxycycline. Subjects and Methods : This study included 20 patients with controlled type II diabetes mellitus of both genders, their age ranged from 40-48years.The study groups were designed in two groups, test group treated with dental implant with systemic administration of subantimicrobial dose doxycycline(SDD) for twice per day for 3 months and control group received dental implant alone. Results: Regarding radiographic marginal bone levels measurements; in both groups the mean marginal bone …
