Research Of Properties Of Polycondensation Type Phosphoric Acid Cationic Exchange Resins, Khasan Makhmudov, M Egamberdiyeva, A Yuldashev, T Tursunov, R Nazirova, S Turabjanov Dsc, B Kedelbaev Sep 2021

Research Of Properties Of Polycondensation Type Phosphoric Acid Cationic Exchange Resins, Khasan Makhmudov, M Egamberdiyeva, A Yuldashev, T Tursunov, R Nazirova, S Turabjanov Dsc, B Kedelbaev

Technical science and innovation

One of the main properties of ion exchangers is their exchange capacity. Static exchange capacity of the new phosphorus acid cationic exchange resins obtained by phospholysis of polymer based on cube waste of the Shurtan gas chemical complex and a secondary product of hydrolysis industry - furfural was determined by alkalometric titration using 0.1 N solution of NaOH and NaCl, capacity by phosphorus content in ionite and capacity by curves of potentiometric titration. The values of exchange capacity found by the above methods are almost indistinguishable from each other. The cationite belongs to moderately acidic ions, the found values of …

Circling The Drain: Regulating Nutrient Pollution From Agricultural Sources, William Gutermuth Jul 2017

Circling The Drain: Regulating Nutrient Pollution From Agricultural Sources, William Gutermuth

Journal of Law and Health

The 2014 Toledo, Ohio tap water ban has, at least temporarily, put a spotlight on United States water supplies. Consequently, many Americans have begun to take a closer look at the quality of the fresh water bodies being used to supply tap water to their homes. Therefore, this Note analyzes the problems currently threatening the lakes, rivers, and other surface waters that are the source of fresh drinking water for huge populations in the United States. Part II examines the problem of nutrient pollution and explains the harmful effects it has on human health. Part III provides an overview of …

Chemical Modulation Of Cancer Cells To Enhance Tumor Immunity, Florisela Herrejon Chavez Jun 2017

Chemical Modulation Of Cancer Cells To Enhance Tumor Immunity, Florisela Herrejon Chavez

PSU McNair Scholars Online Journal

Breakthroughs in immunotherapy have led to cancer therapeutics that activate the immune system by blocking inhibitory mechanisms. This class of therapeutics has resulted in longer survival rates for cancer patients, some living over 10 years after being diagnosed as terminally ill. However, only a small fraction of patients who receive immunotherapy drugs respond favorably.Recent studies suggest that certain anticancer agents (both cytotoxic chemotherapeutics and targeted drugs) stimulate immune recognition of cancers. Identification of such immunomodulatory anticancer agents would make ideal partners for current immunotherapy treatments, thus increasing the proportion of the treated patients who benefit from immunotherapy. This study aimed …

Effects Of Moderate Intake Of Alcohol On Coronary Heart Disease, Eli Derdik Jan 2016

Effects Of Moderate Intake Of Alcohol On Coronary Heart Disease, Eli Derdik

The Science Journal of the Lander College of Arts and Sciences

The french paradox is caused by an inconsistency with scientific experimentation: The French have a very high intake of saturated fat and cholesterol, which is associated with coronary heart disease, yet they have un-commensurately low levels of deaths due to this disease. It has been proposed that alcohol, as a part of the French diet, is the factor that helps decrease the risk of heart disease in the French population by 20-30%. Research has been gathered from many medical journals to create a larger and more accurate perspective to determine if alcohol has any effect on coronary heart disease. Experiments …

Essentials Of Herb-Drug Interactions In The Elderly With Cardiovascular Disease, Sulaiman Sultan, Maria Viqar, Rabaiya Ali, A. Jamil Tajik, Arshad Jahangir Nov 2015

Essentials Of Herb-Drug Interactions In The Elderly With Cardiovascular Disease, Sulaiman Sultan, Maria Viqar, Rabaiya Ali, A. Jamil Tajik, Arshad Jahangir

Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews

As the number of individuals, particularly the elderly, using herbal products with prescription drugs continues to grow, the risk for adverse interactions increases but remains poorly recognized. The true incidence and nature of adverse herb reactions or herb-drug interactions remains unknown since no postmarketing surveillance mechanism exists. Adverse events are greatly underreported, and information regarding safety mainly comes from case reports and suboptimally conducted studies in a limited number of healthy young volunteers or patients with limited comorbidities. Therefore, convincing evidence for the safety of herbal products in the elderly is lacking, and the true magnitude of problems that herb-drug …

Characterization Of The Role That Alternative Ribonucleotide Reductases Play In Restoring Replication In The Presence Of Hydroxyurea In Escherichia Coli, Michael Sadek Jun 2015

Characterization Of The Role That Alternative Ribonucleotide Reductases Play In Restoring Replication In The Presence Of Hydroxyurea In Escherichia Coli, Michael Sadek

PSU McNair Scholars Online Journal

DNA replication is essential for cells to grow and divide. Ribonucleotide reductase is an essential enzyme that is responsible for the formation of deoxyribonucleotides that are used in DNA synthesis during replication. Hydroxyurea is a chemotherapeutic agent that is thought to work by specifically inhibiting the ribonuceotide reductase to prevent replication. However, recent studies in E. coli have shown that following an initial period of inhibition, DNA synthesis then recovers in the presence of hydroxyurea, suggesting that the mode of death and cellular response to hydroxyurea is more complex than originally proposed. The E.coli genome encodes three ribonucleotide reductases that …

It is important to read the lable to understand the correct use of the product.

Control Of Insects In Cotton, D G. Shedley, D. L. Hardy, P. J. Michael Jan 1969

Control Of Insects In Cotton, D G. Shedley, D. L. Hardy, P. J. Michael

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

Results of two experiments at the Ord Irrigation area in 1968 indicate that farmers may be spending more than necessary to obtain economic control of cotton pests in some seasons.

One experiment clearly demonstrated the relationship between low insect numbers and improved cotton yields—the second indicated that a moderate but well timed spray schedule, especially during the early part of the season, can result in more economic insect control than an intensive spray schedule.

Cleansers For The Milking Machine, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia Jan 1961

Cleansers For The Milking Machine, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

WITH the opening of the flush season dairy farmers should make sure milking machines are working at maximum efficiency.

Machines not working efficiently can cause production losses and damage to cows as well as wasting farmers' time.
