Homeopathic Management Of Reinke’S Edema In A Non-Smoker: A Case Report, Aditya Pareek Dec 2022

Homeopathic Management Of Reinke’S Edema In A Non-Smoker: A Case Report, Aditya Pareek

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Introduction: Reinke’s edema, also known as polypoid degeneration of vocal cords, is a bilateral, symmetrical swelling of the whole of the membranous part of the vocal cords. Surgery has been the mainstay of treatment for Reinke’s edema. Thus, patients are often left with practically no non-invasive treatment option. Case Summary: This is the case of a 40-year-old male, teacher, who presented with hoarseness of voice for 1 year and opted for homeopathic treatment when he was advised surgery. A rapid improvement in the symptoms, as well as significant objective improvement as confirmed with video laryngoscopy. The results were …

Reply To Hahnemann's Position On Vaccination: A Call To Rethink., Rudi Verspoor Dec 2022

Reply To Hahnemann's Position On Vaccination: A Call To Rethink., Rudi Verspoor

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

There is a debate on the merits of modern vaccination in relation to Hahnemann’s position regarding this practice in his time. The authors of a recent Letter to the Editor argue that Hahnemann was in favour of vaccination and that we need to assess vaccination objectively. I agree with both of these positions, but disagree as to the details regarding what is meant by these two conclusions. I argue that Hahnemann made clear that vaccination did not provide immunity, and never can. I further argue that there are better alternatives to vaccination in terms of boosting the immune system, and …

Healing Sanctuary, Kammy Downs Jan 2022

Healing Sanctuary, Kammy Downs

Master's Theses

The natural world has hidden wisdom and resources that are disregarded as we misuse our responsibility to care for them. The benefits of being in tune with nature have been traded for a culture that manipulates nature on the altar of expediency, waste, and unquenchable desire. Healing Sanctuary presents a duality. My work speaks about the relationship between the seen and unseen, represented by ten larger-than-life drawings of medicinal herbal plants that have had a profound physical healing effect on me. At the same time, plants, roots, and seeds create visceral metaphors for mental health. Our accomplishments, outlook on life, …

Background: Homoeopathic medicines are known to be effective in alleviating pain and other troublesome symptoms of patients suffering from cervical spondylosis. Objective: The primary objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of predefined homoeopathic medicines in the pain management of cervical spondylosis using the Cervical Spondylosis Pain Management Scale (CSPMS). Methods: A prospective, double-blind randomised placebo-controlled multicentric clinical trial was conducted from April 2012 to May 2013. Results: Sixty-seven cases were enrolled in the Homoeopathy group and 69 in the placebo group. One hundred and thirty-four cases that completed the follow-ups were analysed. The improvement in pain was 56.18% in the …

Its root and rhizome are used as alterative, demulcent, depurative, diaphoretic, diuretic, stimulant and tonic. Objective: To perform standardization of root and rhizome of S. aspera for authentication and identification of raw drug by pharmacognostical, physiochemical, powder and finish product evaluation. Materials and Methods: Air-dried rhizome and roots were boiled, sectioned and stained for macroscopical and microscopical analysis. For physicochemical studies, rhizome and roots were coarsely powdered and subjected for determination of extractive values, ash values, chemical constituents, weight per millilitre, alcohol content, total …

India reported its first positive case of COVID-19 on 30th January 2020. The alerts, the checks and the quarantines soon followed. As of 28th April 2020, India had crossed the 20,000 mark of positive cases and seen over 900 deaths. The nation is adapting and preparing fast for this rapidly spreading COVID outbreak, and new advisories superseding the previous ones as per the evolving needs are being issued by the concerned authorities on almost daily or weekly basis. Background: This review discusses the importance of inter-individual variations in Homoeopathy and role of immune modulation through cytokine induction behind these variations in symptoms. Objectives: To analyse the effects of homoeopathic drugs in modulation of cytokine synthesis to find the individualised immunological mechanisms of these drugs. Methods: The PubMed database was searched for studies which analysed effects of homoeopathic medicines on cytokine synthesis. Full texts of shortlisted studies after scrutiny of abstracts, were analysed for study design, homoeopathic medicines used, cytokines analysed and results. Results: The PubMed search yielded 21 studies. After analysis of abstracts of 21 studies, 10 were …
