The Implementation Of An Open Source Electronic Medical Record At A Faith-Based Community Clinic, Gabri Warren
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Capstones
Faith-based nursing and healthcare is increasingly gaining popularity as the industry looks to minimize costs and improve health outcomes. Historically, qualitative studies have not shown the extent to which individuals and communities are impacted by health initiatives initiated by faith institutions. Healthcare technology can help support the specialty by providing increased quantity and quality data to analyze. Traditional, proprietary EMRs are too costly; however, open source systems offer a low cost, and easily modifiable option to non-profit, or smaller organizations. The data collected by an open source system allows organizations to improve the care that patients receive, and helps guide …
Prenatal Yoga In Pregnancy, Ashleigh Clingenpeel
Prenatal Yoga In Pregnancy, Ashleigh Clingenpeel
Senior Honors Theses
Prenatal yoga has emerged as an advisable, beneficial, and supportive addition to birth preparation. Many studies have linked participation in prenatal yoga with both maternal and infant benefits. Physical benefits for the mother include decreased labor time, decreased labor pain, and improved comfort during pregnancy. Significant emotional and mental effects have also been correlated, such as lowered rates of depression and anxiety, increased self-efficacy in labor, and easier transitions into the postpartum period. Finally, prenatal yoga has demonstrated benefits to the neonate, with a greater number of vaginal deliveries, which are less traumatic for the infant, an increase in gestational …

Lipids, Reactive Oxygen Species, And Health, Heather Bowen
Lipids, Reactive Oxygen Species, And Health, Heather Bowen
DNP Research Projects
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States. Coronary artery disease (CAD), where plaque builds up to create atherosclerosis, puts patients at risk for heart attack or stroke. Mitochondrial Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) have been implicated as a source of oxidative stress that can lead to the development of CAD, and diets high in fat potentiate this occurrence. As certain fats are heated and experience chemical and physical degradation, they cause an increased risk of obesity, diabetes, various forms of cancer, and CVD. This research study, based on CREATION Health ideals, aimed to evaluate the …

Literature demonstrates that yoga can reduce self-assessed symptoms of afib, secondary outcomes, and objective episodes of afib. Negative emotional states can increase afib frequency. Yoga has been found to improve emotional states, ability to cope with chronic disease, perceived wellness, …
