Background: The etiologies of unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) could be highly varied. It could be idiopathic or related to surgery, infection, radiation, and tumor. Among these causes of UVFP, surgery-related and idiopathic UVFP were the most well studied. However, the clinical characteristics of tumor-related UVFP have been discussed in only a few studies. Therefore, we evaluated the clinical and electromyographic characteristics of tumor-related UVFP and compared them with those of surgery-related UVFP. Purposes: Patients with stroke often experience neurocognitive impairment; thus, an effective screening test should be developed. The Mini-Mental Status Examination-Chinese (MMSE-C) test and the Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery-Screening (LNNB-S) test are two commonly used tests for assessing cognitive impairment. In Taiwan, few studies have been conducted on the applicability of cognitive assessment tests. Objective: The purpose of the study was to use experiential marketing to explore the relationship among physician-patient relationship quality, satisfaction, and loyalty in a department of rehabilitation. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. The study subjects were patients of rehabilitation department recruited from a regional hospital in Northern Taiwan using a convenient sampling strategy. A structured questionnaire was applied for data collection; the valid response rate of 190 distributed questionnaires was 96.31%. Many countries have developed comprehensive developmental motor assessment scale for preschool children (DMASPC). At present, there is no comprehensive gross motor and fine motor assessment scales for preschool children in Taiwan. The purpose of this study is to develop a DMASPC specifically for Taiwanese preschool children. This study is a cross-sectional study. Objective: To investigate the feasibility of a subdural strip, placed just proximal to the surgical field, to record somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) of the posterior tibial nerve (PTN) during detethering surgery for spinal dysraphism and/or tethered cord syndrome (TCS). Method: Twenty three patients (thirteen boys and ten girls; age, 4 months to 15 years) were enrolled in this study. Complications following cervical manipulation can be classified as cerebrovascular or noncerebrovascular complications. The former complications occur more frequently, and they are usually due to vertebral artery occlusion, damage or thrombus formation. This study was attempted to investigate the performance and the effect of occupational therapy intervention via visual-motor integration (VMI), visual perception and motor coordination in adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). Purpose: Previous studies conducted on pressure garments have suggested that compression garments may have positive effects on cardiopulmonary function while performing exercises by improving peripheral venous return and reducing muscle oscillation that may cause energy loss. Patients with spinal cord injury above the sacral level usually have spastic type neurogenic bladder dysfunction (NBD). Spastic NBD is usually manifested with detrusor overactivity and detrusor-external sphincter dyssynergia (DESD). Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injection has been used in treating spastic NBD for long time. Machine crush injury is the most common occupational injury in Taiwan. Machines operated at high pressures and temperatures can cause severe injury to the hands. To improve functional recovery of the hands, pedicled groin flap transfer is recommended. This reconstructive option is useful and versatile for covering hand wounds. The transfer yields predictable results with a procedure that is substantially less difficult and takes less time compared with free-tissue transfer; the disadvantage is that the extremity must be immobilized. In this casereport, we present a pair of siblings, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman, who were both diagnosed as having late-onset Pompe disease. Each underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) in 2013 and 2015, respectively. The major finding in these two cases was that enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) over a 24-month period improved or stabilized pulmonary function despite late-onset Pompe disease. CPET revealed improved aerobic capacity in the brother, who was physically active, but deterioration in the sister, who lived a sedentary lifestyle. [Purpose] Standing and walking are impaired in stroke patients. Therefore, assisted devices are required to restore their walking abilities. The ankle foot orthosis with an external powered source is a new type of orthosis. Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung disease defined by permanent abnormal dilation of the bronchi. Bronchiectasis often includes airway infection and inflammation. Pulmonary rehabilitation including progressive gait training, stair climbing, and cycling is a standard guideline for the treatment of bronchiectasis symptoms and for symptoms of other chronic lung diseases. Little research has been conducted on the effectiveness of pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with bronchiectasis. The purpose of this case report is to examine physical therapy (PT) management, utilizing pulmonary rehabilitation with incorporated balance training, for a geriatric patient with bronchiectasis.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer experienced by females in the United States. In breast cancer survivors, weakness of the rotator cuff musculature is often considered a contributing factor to rotator cuff pathology. The purpose of this case report was to help fill the gaps in literature by documenting the use of therapeutic exercises to strengthen the shoulder complex, in conjunction with taping techniques for postural reeducation, of a female breast cancer survivor.

The primary purpose of this investigation was to describe and quantify action-planning deficits during goal-directed movements in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy (HCP). Three specific topics were addressed: brain activation, kinematics, and the use of visual input. First, we assessed prefrontal cortex (PFC) activation during complex goal-directed actions in children with HCP. The outcome suggested that children with HCP have higher PFC activation than age matched typically developing (TD) children during action planning, potentially due to the difficulty in allocating attentional resources for simultaneously processing the cognitive (i.e., attention, memory, information processing) and motor demands of the goal-directed task.
