Prevalence Of Escherichia Coli O157 In Red Meat And Meat Products Determined By Vidas Ecpt And Lightcycler Pcr, Seran Temelli̇, Ayşe Gül Eyi̇gör, Şahsene Anar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study aimed to determine the prevalence of Escherichia coli O157 in retail red meat and meat products with the Vitek Immunodiagnostic Assay System, including H7 Escherichia coli phage technology (VIDAS ECPT), and a real-time polymerase chain reaction system (LightCycler PCR; LCPCR). A total of 106 red meat and meat product samples were analyzed with VIDAS ECPT and LCPCR. VIDAS ECPT presumptive positive samples were subjected to VIDAS Immuno Concentration E. coli O157, followed by culture and serology. Among the 27 out of 72 (37.50%) red meat samples and 3 out of 34 (8.82%) red meat products that tested positive …

Toxinotyping Of Clostridium Perfringens Isolates By Elisa And Pcr From Lambs Suspected Of Enterotoxemia, Hasan Hüseyi̇n Hadi̇mli̇, Osman Ergani̇ş, Zafer Sayin, Zeki̇ Aras

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Clostridium perfringens is a gram-positive, anaerobic bacterium that causes a wide range of diseases in humans and animals. The purposes of this study were to determine, using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), the clostridial toxins in intestinal samples of lambs with suspected enterotoxemia; to conduct molecular typing of C. perfringens isolates; and to investigate the presence of the genes of 4 major toxins (\alpha, \beta, \epsilon, and \iota) in the isolates by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). According to the ELISA results, clostridial toxins were determined in 32 intestinal samples. Of the samples, 13 (40.62%) were C. perfringens type A, 1 …
