This study was conducted to determine effects of various planting patterns on forage yield and some characters of corn and bean grown under intercropping as a second crop at Tokat - Kazova ecological conditions in 1992 and 1993. Planting patterns significantly influenced maize leaf ratio, stem ratio, and forage yield. The highest forage corn yield was obtained from pure stand maize and 1 corn + 2 bean alternate rows. Intercropping has significantly influenced leaf ratio, green pod yield and forage yield of bean. Changes In Some Agronomical Characters Of The Autotetraploid Perennial Rye (Secale Montanum Guss) In Relation To The Time, İlknur Akgün, Ali̇ Koç, Sevi̇m Sağsöz
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
This study was conducted to determine the changes in some agronomical characters of the autotetraploid perennial rye depending on the time in Erzurum between May-August months in 1996 and 1997 years. In the experiment, plant samples were taken at fifteen-day intervals between onset of the growing and beginning of the seed mature stage. In the samples, plant height, hay production, and the ratio of leaf, dry matter, crude protein, crude cellulose, crude ash, Ca, K, Mg and P were analyzed. According to regression analysis results, all investigated characters except for Ca had significant relationships based on the time.

In this research survival Listeria monocytogenes has been investigated during manufacturing, ripening and storage of the turkish white cheese made from cow's milk and sheep's milk. Pasteurized cow's and sheep's milk were inoculated with 10^3 L. monocytogenes /ml and than processed into cheese. Cheese samples were stored in PET jars after pre-ripening during 20 weeks at 4°C and analysis were carried out at certain period. The objective of this work was to determine the effects on the budding success of loquat seedlings with different diameters and budding scions with different characteristics. The investigation was carried out during 1996 and 1997 years in Antakya. Hafif Çukurgöbek, Sayda, Gold Nugget and Şampiyon were used as the cultivars. The budding scions taken from bearing and non-bearing branches of these cultivars were budded on loquat seedlings with two different diameters (0.50-0.99 cm. and 1.00-1.50 cm.) by using T budding method. The effects of different sowing dates (1st February and 1st March) and row spacings (30, 45 and 60 cm) on yield and quality characteristics of four sugarbeet cvs. (Evita, Sonja, Fiona and Anadolumono) were studied in Hatay ecological conditions in 1996 and 1997. Delayed sowings affected negatively all the yield and quality characteristics, and due to one month delaying of sowing root and sucrose yield decreased 8.06 % and 8.64% in 1996, and 37.7% and 40.4% in 1997, respectively. In this research changes in the free fatty acidity (%) and peroxide values, fatty acid composition, specific height and sensory properties of puff pastry doughs were investigated during the shelf-life (12 months) by storing them at -18 °C after being frozen at -40°C. Samples were made of puff pastry margarines belong to three different company. Free fatty acidity (%) and peroxide values were slightly increased with duration of shelf-life while the changes in the free fatty acid composition have remained at limited level. In this paper; it was carried out to determine the withdrawal strength of some screws and nails of WFB, picea and oriental beech that are using at furniture product. For this reason, it was applied the withdrawal strength of experimental specimens with different screws and nails. According to the result of experiments, it was obtained the highest withdrawal strength result of oriental beech whose face perpendicular to screw 20x35 (17,670 N/mm^2). It was obtained the highest withdrawal strength result of picea whose face parellel to nails such as 16x30 (6,920 N/mm^2).

The study area, in Isparta-Pürenova, is covered by a plantation with seven-year-old Anatolian Black Pine Pinus nigra and Lebanon Cedar Cedrus libani trees. Development of drought-resistant cultivars is one of the major goals in plant breeding programs. Twentysix wheat genotypes were evaluated for drought resistance using the criteria of leaf relative water content (LRWC), leaf relative water loss (LRWL) and drought susceptibility index (DSI) under Erzurum conditions in the crop seasons of 1995-96 and 1996-97. The results showed that differences among the genotypes in LRWC, LRWL and DSI were significant. In rainfed condition; LRWC, LRWL and DSI of genotypes ranged between 74.0-81.6 %, 0.391-0.636 g/g/s and 0.59-1.59 respectively. A Research On The Cytological Characters Of Yellow Bluestem (Bothriochloa Ischaemum (L) Keng ) Occured In Natural Maqui Type Vegetation Of Çukurova Region, Ersi̇n Can, Rüştü Hati̇poğlu

This study was conducted to determine the number and morphological features of somatic chromosomes of yellow bluestem (Bothriochloa ischaemum (L) Keng) dominated in natural maqui type range vegetation of Çukurova region. The results showed that 39 out of the 40 ekotypes had 2n=60 and only one had 2n=50 chromosomes. It was determined that all the chromosomes of yellow bluestem were metacentrich and their lengths ranged from 1.3006 \mum to 3.1294 \mum. The cytotype with 2n=50 had two pairs of chromosomes with satellite and the cytotype with 2n=60 had three pairs of chromosomes with satellite.

In this experiment, different levels of phosphorus fertilizer (0, 3, 6, 12 and 24 kg P_2O_5/da) were applied to the some groundnut varieties (PI 288109, NC 7, Gazipaşa and NY 7) under Kahramanmaraş conditions and pod yield, pod weight of plant, pod number of plant, 100 seed weight, seed/pod, seed oil content, oil yield, protein content and protein yield characteristics were studied. The results showed that NC-7 and Gazipaşa varieties gave the best response to phosphorus and 12 kg P_2O_5 /da was found to be the most suitable dose. In this study, some walnut types were stored in different conditions and packaging materials such as unshelled and shelled and investigated the quality variations during their storage . Our experiments showed that the most suitable conditions for walnut storage are at 0°C and 5°C and 55 -65 % of relative humidity. The polyethylene bags used as a packaging are more suitable than synthetic woven and cloth bags for unshelled walnuts. Least quality losses occured on vacum bags in shelled walnuts during storage. This study aimed possibility of organosolv pulp production by adding to the pulping liquor without any inorganic catalyzes from the wheat straw which is known as an important raw-material for pulp production in Turkey. To obtain optimum pulping conditions ethanol ratio to pulping liquor, temperature and cooking time at maximum temperature were changed systematically and 18 pulping trial were made. The results showed that the pulping temperature at 170ºC was critical for delignification and fiber liberation. Under the limit of 170ºC sufficient delignification and chemical defibration were not observed. However, fast fiber liberation occured by applying 180-190ºC pulping temperatures. Increasing …

Using eight barley cultivars field experiments were carried out in Eskişehir, from 1991 through 1994. Water consumption and dry mater yield of genotypes were studied. Also, the yields and yield components as well as their relationship with dry matter production in different growing periods were studied. There was no significant difference among evapotranspiration of genotypes. The Water Use Efficiency (WUE) varied with year. Mean annual WUE of genotypes varied from 3.6 to 4.75 kg / da^-1 mm^-1 for biological yield, and from 1.08 to 1.45 kg / da^-1 mm^-1 for grain yield. Mineral Contents Of Different Classes Of Black Tea Produced By Orthodox And Çaykur Methods, Feramuz Özdemi̇r, Ayhan Topuz, Mustafa Erbaş

Potassium, calcium, phosphor, manganese, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc contents were determined for seven different classes of tea produced by orthodox and Çaykur methods in 3 shooting periods of the 1995 production season. Forty-two (2x3x7) samples were used in the analysis. While the Ca, P, Cu and Zn contents of the samples were affected significantly (p>0.01) by shooting period, method and class, K and Fe contents were affected only by shooting period and class, Mn content was affected only by method and Mg content was affected only by shooting period.

Research On The Performance Values Of Some Fertilizer Metering Devices Used For Band Fertilizing, Aysel Tücer, İsmet Önal

The objectives of this research were , to find the effect of working conditions and different content of fertilizing material (amonium nitrat) on the performance of metering devices used for band placement of fertilizer. In this work, different types of mineral fertilizer feed devices, such as fluted weel, finger star wheel and auger type were investigated at laboratory conditions in the Agricultural Machinery Department of Agricultural Faculty of Ege University. Research results showed that the fluted wheel type of fertilizer metering device was more succesfull than other types of fertilizer metering devices.

This study covers agricultural farms in Kazova area of Tokat province. The main material of the study was the data obtained from 134 farms by survey in period of 1994- 1995. In the study, translog production fonction and Allen Partial Elasticity of Substitution (AES) in order to determine input-input relation were used. Estimated equations analyzed econometrictly and marginal analysis belonging to the each estimated equations which are marginal production elasticity. The most suitable explant type, carbonhydrat source and doses, pH level for the in vitro propagation of G. ikariae Baker. were determined. Bulb tissues prepared differently (bulb tissue segments and individual or twin bulb scales) were used as explants. The effects of different kinds (saccharose, glucose, fructose, malthose and lactose) and doses (2, 3, 6%) added to nutrient medium and pH changes in the medium were examined on bulblet formation. Effect Of Potassium Damping-Off (Pythium Sp And Rhizoctonia Solani) And Cold Tolerance On Tobacco Seedlings, Özlem Güngör

Effect of Potassium on damping off tobacco caused by Pythium sp and Rhizoctonia solani were investigated by giving 10, 20, 30 kg/da (5, 10, 15 ppm) K_2SO_4 as K_2O base and pathogen inoculum at the same time at green house experiments. Potassium application did not present disease development at all three rates, but at the rate of 20 kg/da K_2O there were a slight seedling cover of 13,75% and 3,75% for Pythium sp. and R.solani especially. An experiment was conducted at Hatay in experimental station and farmers field during 1995-96 and 1996-97 season to work out the response of pea cv. Marmara to Rhizobium inoculation and chemical fertilization. Rhizobium inoculation increased the number of nodules and nodules dry weight in both year and location significantly. Nodulation status were superior in farmers field which has persistent history of legume cultivation. Nitrogen application and inoculation significantly increased total above ground dry matter except farmers field in 1996-97, and seed yields over uninoculated and without nitrogen given plots in both location.
