A 60-day feeding trial was conducted to assess the effects of processed meal from knife fish Chitala ornata (KFM) as fishmeal replacement in diets of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus juveniles. Five iso-nitrogenous (36.4% in dry matter) and isolipidic diets (8.6% in dry matter) with 0 (D1), 25 (D2), 50 (D3), 75 (D4) and 100% (D5) KFM inclusions were prepared. With a stocking density of 15 fish (0.59 ± 0.01 g) per tank, tilapia juveniles were distributed randomly in fifteen 30-L tanks. Results indicate a significant increase (P < 0.05) in the percent average weight gain, specific growth rate, and feed …

Effect Of Zinc Oxide, Zinc Hydroxychloride, And Tri-Basic Copper Chloride On Nursery Pig Performance, H. S. Cemin, J. C. Woodworth, M. D. Tokach, S. S. Dritz, J. M. Derouchey, R. D. Goodband

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

A total of 1,215 pigs (PIC 1050 × 280; initially 11.7 lb BW) were used in a 42-d growth trial to determine the effects of ZnO, Zn hydroxychloride (IntelliBond Z; IBZ), and tri-basic copper chloride (IntelliBond C; IBC) on growth performance of nursery pigs. Pigs were allotted by pen weight and assigned to 1 of 5 dietary treatments. Treatments consisted of added Zn as ZnO (3,000 ppm in phase 1 and 2,000 ppm in phase 2); Zn hydroxychloride (IBZ; 1,000 ppm in phase 1 and phase 2); and Cu as tri-basic copper chloride (200 ppm), alone or in combination, as …

Effects Of Crystalline Amino Acid Concentrations With Or Without Formaldehyde Treatment Of Diets On Nursery Pig Growth Performance And Fecal Bacterial Concentration, H. Williams, J. C. Woodworth, J. M. Derouchey, S. S. Dritz, M. D. Tokach, R. D. Goodband, T. E. Burkey, S. Li Jan 2017

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

A total of 1,235 nursery pigs (PIC 359 × 1050; initially 26.9 lb BW) were used in a 28-d study evaluating the effects of crystalline amino acid concentrations with or without formaldehyde treatment of diets on nursery pig growth performance, feed bacteria concentration, lysine content, and fecal microbial diversity. Sal CURB (Kemin Industries Inc., Des Moines, IA) is a commercial formaldehyde product that is commonly utilized in the poultry industry for Salmonella control in feed but has also been shown to reduce PEDV infectivity in swine diets.

Pigs were weaned at approximately 21 d, fed a common starter diet for …

Effect Of Varying Levels Of Concentrate On Growth Performance And Feed Economics In Nili-Ravi Buffalo Heifer Calves, Zeeshan Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Abdullah, Khalid Javed, Makhdoom Abdul Jabbar, Nisar Ahmad, Yasir Allah Ditta, Hamid Mustafa, Faisal Shahzad Jan 2017

Effect Of Varying Levels Of Concentrate On Growth Performance And Feed Economics In Nili-Ravi Buffalo Heifer Calves, Zeeshan Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Abdullah, Khalid Javed, Makhdoom Abdul Jabbar, Nisar Ahmad, Yasir Allah Ditta, Hamid Mustafa, Faisal Shahzad

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

An experiment was conducted to optimize the effect of concentrate levels on growth performance in Nili-Ravi buffalo heifers. These animals (n = 30), aged 4-6 months, were divided into three treatment groups (A, B, C) and were offered concentrate at the rate of 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5% of body weight for an 8-month period, respectively. The statistical data showed a significant (P < 0.01) effect on dry matter intake among all treatment groups. However, dietary treatments showed a nonsignificant effect on body weight gain. Treatment A showed a better (P < 0.01) feed conversion ratio (10.01 - 0.55) compared to treatment B (11.75 - 0.79) and C (12.85 - 0.74). The average body condition score, body measurements, and blood profiles were not affected by varying levels of concentrate. However, total serum protein was found lower (P < 0.01) in treatment A compared with the other two treatment groups. The cost for production per kg gain was 80.8% higher in treatment C and 46.6% higher in treatment B compared to treatment A. It can be concluded that buffalo heifers can be reared cost-effectively on a minimum concentrate level (0.5% of body weight) along with ad libitum green fodder.

Evaluation Of Elarom Ses With Or Without Tri-Basic Copper Chloride On Nursery Pig Growth Performance, H. Williams, J. C. Woodworth, J. M. Derouchey, S. S. Dritz, M. D. Tokach, R. D. Goodband

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

A total of 360 weanling pigs (DNA 200 × 400; initially 11.5 lb BW) were used in a 42-d study evaluating the effects of feeding Elarom SES in combination with increasing tri-basic copper chloride on nursery pig performance and fecal consistency. Elarom SES (Trouw Nutrition USA, Highland, IL) is a specialty feed ingredient containing a blend of active ingredients designed to enhance growth performance and gut health. Tri-basic copper chloride (TBCC, Intellibond C, Micronutrients USA, LLC., Indianapolis, IN) is a form of copper (Cu) that has the potential for improved bioavailability and enhanced growth performance. Pigs were weaned at approximately …
