Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

A statewide study of existing transportation facilities, needs and arrangements was initiated in South Carolina on July 1 1942 by the Agricultural Economics Department of the Experimental Station at South Dakota State College, in cooperation with the Extension Service and State and County War Boards. The study was immediately prompted as a contribution to the war effort with the objective of finding means of relieving the rubber situation and an imminent shortage of motor transportation and man power. However, in addition to assisting in relieving the present emergency, the study promises to produce valuable results of a permanent character. The …

Transportation Survey Of Some 400 Trucks At 16 Livestock Markets In South Dakota, W.P. Cotton

Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

A statewide study of existing transportation facilities, needs and arrangements is an immediate outgrowth of the rubber situation, lack of motor and rotor parts replacement and an imminent shortage of man power, although the study promises to produce results of a permanent character. The general plan and outline of the study as undertaken in South Dakota had its inception in the Corn Belt Livestock Marketing Research Committee as a result of 14 states in this area and the Bureau of Agricultural Economics cooperating in a livestock marketing study in 1941. The work in the state has been made possible by …

Tax Situation Hand County, Gabriel Lundy Jun 1942

Tax Situation Hand County, Gabriel Lundy

Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

This county pamphlet is intended to provide local information about taxes which would otherwise be difficult for citizens to find, and to present it in a readily useable form. Particularly it is expected to be of use to organized planning groups. The tax information falls into four parts according to the nature of the problem dealt with. Part I deals only with taxes levied uniformly upon the entire county; Part II deals with differences in the total levy among townships and school districts; Part III shows differences in the assessed valuations among quarter sections, and Part IV shows the tax …

Grain Prices Received By Farmers Fob Tyndall, South Dakota, Weber Peterson

Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

The series of grain prices here presented are calculated from records of terminal market prices by deducting freight charges. In the absence of actual historical local price data this will serve many of the same purposes, subject to the limitations discussed on the inside back cover page. People interested in agriculture and efficient farming are very much concerned about prices. Unlike producers of branded products, farmers have been unable individually to control market prices through control of production. Since individual farmers have found that, in general, prices have been determined by forces beyond their control they have attempted to increase …
