Law And Leadership: Integrating Leadership Studies Into The Law School Curriculum, Paula A. Monopoli, Susan Mccarty Dec 2012

Law And Leadership: Integrating Leadership Studies Into The Law School Curriculum, Paula A. Monopoli, Susan Mccarty

Paula A Monopoli

Leadership includes the ability to persuade others to embrace one’s ideas and to act upon them. Teaching law students the art of persuasion through advocacy is at the heart of legal education. But historically law schools have not included leadership studies in the curriculum. This book is one of the first to examine whether and how to integrate the theory and practice of leadership studies into legal education and the legal profession. Interdisciplinary in its scope, with contributions from legal educators and practitioners, the book defines leadership in the context of the legal profession and explores its challenges in ...

Impostos E Alternativas, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha Dec 2012

Impostos E Alternativas, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Boston College Law School Faculty Papers

It happens all too often. You get a call from someone higher up on the food chain in your organization, be it a director, faculty member, or partner, requesting that you give a presentation the next day about some specialized legal research topic.

Everyone knows how this scenario plays out. You run around like crazy trying to pull something together in time. But what if you didn’t have to spend the night before your presentation stressed? What if you had a collection of your law librarian colleagues’ instructional materials right at your fingertips to browse, adapt, and reuse?

This ...

Can Law And Literature Be Practical? The Crucible And The Federal Rules Of Evidence, Martin H. Pritikin Dec 2012

Can Law And Literature Be Practical? The Crucible And The Federal Rules Of Evidence, Martin H. Pritikin

West Virginia Law Review

Counter-intuitively, one of the best ways to learn the practice-oriented topic of evidence may be by studying a work of fiction-specifically, Arthur Miller's The Crucible, which dramatizes the seventeenth-century Salem witch trials. The play puts the reader in the position of legal advocate, and invites strategic analysis of evidentiary issues. A close analysis of the dialogue presents an opportunity to explore both the doctrinal nuances of and policy considerations underlying the most important topics covered by the Federal Rules of Evidence, including the mode and order of interrogation, relevance, character evidence and impeachment, opinion testimony, and hearsay.

Piety And Profession: Simon Greenleaf And The Case Of The Stillborn Bowdoin Law School, 1850–1861, Alfred S. Konefsky

Journal Articles

In 1850, Bowdoin College turned to former Harvard professor Simon Greenleaf when it sought to establish a law school. Although the school did not materialize, Greenleaf wrote a remarkable report that reveals anxieties about the profession, competing visions of legal education, and controversies over the meaning of the science of law in antebellum New England.
