Commencement took place on May 20, 2023 to recognize Juris Doctor, Master of Laws and Master in the Study of Law graduates in the University of Georgia School of Law ceremony. The School of Law will held its commencement for the Class of 2023 in the Classic Center Grand Hall. The Honorable Steve C. Jones, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Georgia, former Georgia Superior Court judge, 1987 alumni, delivered the keynote address.

Film producer, teacher, and writer Michael Uslan ’76 will serve as the Indiana University Maurer School of Law’s graduation speaker this May, the school announced today (Feb. 16). Holder of three degrees from Indiana University, Uslan is credited with helping to make the Batman franchise one of the most successful film projects of all time. He has served as executive producer on each one of the films, ranging from 1989’s Batman to the conclusion of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. 2022 Commencement

At a "student speakoff" in the spring semester, students vote for their graduation student speaker. Each candidate has a few minutes to deliver their speech to the graduating class (or the graduating LLMs). Student Services provides ballots and counts votes afterwards and then announces the speaker to the class.

Graduation Addresses

Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold D. Melton delivered the University of Georgia School of Law's 2021 Commencement address on May 22 in Stegeman Coliseum, with social distancing measures in place.

Approximately 215 students will be eligible to participate in this year's ceremony for Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Master in the Study of Law (M.S.L) candidates.

Austen Parrish (2014-2022)

On Saturday, May 8, the Maurer School of Law will celebrate the Class of 2021 in its annual graduation ceremony. The day before, students will have walked across the stage in their regalia and participated in a hooding ceremony as part of a formal, in-person university commencement. The pandemic is forcing us to hold the school’s individual celebration on Zoom, but many of our traditions continue. Family and friends will attend, we’ll hear from student and faculty speakers, each graduate will be honored individually, and we’ve even chosen a talented student to sing the Alma Mater.

Graduation Addresses

Commencement took place in a virtual format, broadcast via YouTube and Vimeo on the morning of May 16, 2020. More than 205 Juris Doctor, Master of Laws and Master in the Study of Law graduates were recognized in the online video ceremony.

U.S. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan delivered the keynote address. Srinivasan was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for District of Columbia Circuit in May 2013, after serving as the principal deputy solicitor general of the United States for two years and arguing 25 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
