Fire And Life Safety Evaluation Of The Providence Pavilion, Oscar J. Zuniga Jun 2013

Fire And Life Safety Evaluation Of The Providence Pavilion, Oscar J. Zuniga

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The fire and life safety systems of the Providence Pavilion, a four-story addition to the Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, are examined for compliance with applicable design and construction codes and standards and are found to comply with codes and conform to standards. The prescriptive requirements for occupancy classification, construction type, structural fire protection, egress systems, fire alarms, and fire protection are reviewed. Three different fire scenarios are developed and are then employed to study the fire and life safety systems’ performance using fire and egress modeling tools and simulations. Using this performance-based approach, the fire and life …

Fire Protection Analysis Of The ‘Center For The Arts’ Building', Steven W. Carman Jun 2013

Fire Protection Analysis Of The ‘Center For The Arts’ Building', Steven W. Carman

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Masters of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, a prescriptive and performance-based analysis was performed on a building housing the Center for the Arts. The building was constructed in 1947 in California as an automobile dealership and repair shop under the provisions of the then-controlling Uniform Building Code. It subsequently underwent several occupancy changes and has since served as a beauty school, gymnastics center, and currently as a performing and visual arts center. Prescriptive analyses were conducted based primarily upon the provisions of the 2010 California Building and Fire Codes, and …

Adams 14 High School Life Safety Report, Todd L. Brand Jun 2013

Adams 14 High School Life Safety Report, Todd L. Brand

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The purpose of this Life Safety Report (LSR) is to provide a prescriptive based analysis of the Adam County High School based on the existing codes that the building was constructed under. This will include exterior and interior building construction, fire protection systems, and egress requirements. Additionally, this report will evaluate selected performance based design scenarios for the High School. Findings and recommendations to the performance based design scenarios, along with any deficiencies, are noted at the conclusion of the report. The prescriptive analysis of this report will focus on the International Building Code requirements with emphasis on Chapters 4 …

Robert E. Kennedy Library Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo Fire Protection Analysis Fpe Culminating Project, Isaac De Haro Martinez

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

California State University has acquired fire protection services to conduct a survey of and produce a fire protection report that analyzes the current condition of the existing Robert E. Kennedy Library on the Cal Poly campus. The prescriptive analysis of the Library is based on the 2010 California Building- the analysis considers the building a new building and will not consider the building provision for existing buildings as permitted by Chapter 34 of the CBC. A performance-based design using FDS is also analyzed to determine the tenability advantages of providing fire sprinklers within the Library. Non-conforming conditions include, among others, …

Court House Project- Fire Protection Report, Ryan Rigsbee Mar 2013

Court House Project- Fire Protection Report, Ryan Rigsbee

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This fire protection report intends to provide Fictitious Architects (The Client) with sufficient information about code requirements and best practices pertaining to occupant and building safety. The chapters within this report include specific design requirements to aid the client during the design of the Court House Project. The following recommendations have been prepared by Ryan Rigsbee to address all major building code requirements for life safety systems. These life safety systems include egress, fire alarm and signaling, water-based fire suppression, structural fire protection, smoke control, and an emergency management plan. This project details the requirements for a new courthouse containing …
