Owasp Zap Vs Snort For Sqli Vulnerability Scanning, Christopher Kalaani Jan 2023

Owasp Zap Vs Snort For Sqli Vulnerability Scanning, Christopher Kalaani

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Web applications are important to protect from threats that will compromise sensitive information. Web vulnerability scanners are a prominent tool for this purpose, as they can be utilized to find vulnerabilities in a web application to be rectified. Two popular open-source tools were compared head-to-head, OWASP ZAP and Snort. The performance metrics evaluated were SQLi attacks detected, false positives, false negatives, processing time, and memory usage. OWASP ZAP yielded fewer false positives and had less processing time. Snort used significantly fewer memory resources. The internal workings of ZAP’s Active Scan feature and Snort’s implementation of the Boyer-Moore and Aho-Corasick algorithms …

Determining Cause Of Failure For Load Cells Supporting Vertical Pressure Vessels Subject To Wind Loading, Seth Nowak Jan 2022

Determining Cause Of Failure For Load Cells Supporting Vertical Pressure Vessels Subject To Wind Loading, Seth Nowak

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Wind loads cannot be avoided during a natural disaster such as a hurricane and could affect the strength and stability of vertical pressure vessels during exposure. Vertical pressure vessels cater to large wind loads; therefore, it is imperative to study the effect of additional loading on the structures. In this study, three pressure vessels with volumes of 50 CuFt, 200 CuFt, and 1100 CuFt, supported by three equidistant load cells under their legs are individually analyzed to determine von mises stress to estimate yield failure criteria. Two load rating criteria, maximum load capacity and water-filled condition (critical condition) are utilized …

Digital Forensic Tools & Cloud-Based Machine Learning For Analyzing Crime Data, Majeed Kayode Raji Jan 2018

Digital Forensic Tools & Cloud-Based Machine Learning For Analyzing Crime Data, Majeed Kayode Raji

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Digital forensics is a branch of forensic science in which we can recreate past events using forensic tools for legal measure. Also, the increase in the availability of mobile devices has led to their use in criminal activities. Moreover, the rate at which data is being generated has been on the increase which has led to big data problems. With cloud computing, data can now be stored, processed and analyzed as they are generated. This thesis documents consists of three studies related to data analysis. The first study involves analyzing data from an android smartphone while making a comparison between …

Structural And Aerodynamic Design, Procedure And Analysis Of A Small V-Shaped Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, Odari J. Whyte Jan 2018

Structural And Aerodynamic Design, Procedure And Analysis Of A Small V-Shaped Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, Odari J. Whyte

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Over the last two decades there has been a renewed interest in Vertical Axis Wind Turbines. This turbine configuration though unpopular for large-scale generation has found a niche market in the way of offshore energy harvesting. However, offshore wind has its challenges. In this thesis a detailed comprehensive study of a proposed V-shaped vertical axis turbine rotor is performed in order to examine its structural and aerodynamic characteristics. The design met and exceeded the safety parameters establish for test bed operation, showing a factor of safety of 1.87 with regard to fatigue stress response. A satisfactory fatigue stress design life …

Wind Turbine Noise And Wind Speed Prediction, Tyler H. Blanchard Jan 2017

Wind Turbine Noise And Wind Speed Prediction, Tyler H. Blanchard

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In order to meet the US Department of Energy projected target of 35% of US energy coming from wind by 2050, there is a strong need to study the management and development of wind turbine technology and its impact on human health, wildlife and environment. The prediction of wind turbine noise and its propagation is very critical to study the impacts of wind turbine noise for long term adoption and acceptance by neighboring communities. The prediction of wind speed is critical in the assessment of feasibility of a potential wind turbine site. This work presents a study on prediction of …

Enhancing Project Management With Lean World Class Manufacturing In Construction, Jacob Randles Jan 2016

Enhancing Project Management With Lean World Class Manufacturing In Construction, Jacob Randles

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In construction, the goal of commercial projects is to turn a profit. This is achieved by minimizing inputs and maximizing outputs while building a product that meets the customer’s perception of value. Value is determined through pre-negotiated specifications, plans, and material quality. Even in U.S. military construction, the unit executing the construction wants to complete the task on time and on budget, which can be difficult to do. Studies on project completion showcase a surprisingly high rate of failure in reaching the aforementioned “on time, on budget” goal. It is important to understand the nuances and details of U.S. Army …
