Some Chromite Deposits In Madison County, Montana, Russell H. W. Chadwick May 1941

Some Chromite Deposits In Madison County, Montana, Russell H. W. Chadwick

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Chromite occurs in Madison County, Montana, in two areas, one three miles southwest of Silver Star, the other five miles southeast of Sheridan. The ore bodies are small, lenticular masses surrounded by metamorphosed sedimentary rocks of the pre-Cambrian Cherry Creek series. The ore was deposited from the hydrothermal solutions which serpentinized the surrounding metamorphic host rocks.

Basic Information In The Granitic Rocks Of The Boulder Batholith, Clifford G. Sherwin May 1941

Basic Information In The Granitic Rocks Of The Boulder Batholith, Clifford G. Sherwin

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Dark fine grained basic masses of rock are found in nearly every part of the Boulder Batholith, these commonly being referred to as inclusions, segregations, autoliths, and various other names. The origin, distribution, and composition of the dark inclusions form the basis for this report.

Stratigraphy And Paleontology Of The Eagle Formation In Montana And Adjacent Areas, Raymond Thompson May 1941

Stratigraphy And Paleontology Of The Eagle Formation In Montana And Adjacent Areas, Raymond Thompson

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

A conspicuous two hundred and fifty foot sandstone of central Montana, known as the Eagle Formation, constitutes part of the some five thousand feet of Cretaceous sediments in the state. It stands out in steep cliffs which stretch for many miles in the outcrop area from Wyoming to Canada.

The Extraction Of Chromate Salts From Montana Chromite, Server Tasdemiroglu May 1941

The Extraction Of Chromate Salts From Montana Chromite, Server Tasdemiroglu

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

In this thesis I have tried to determine the suitable temperature, time and the amount of soda ash and lime needed for the calcining process. The leaching and purification tests were studied experimentally. The earlier process for making chromate from chromite was not the same as is used today. Therefore I have found it useful to put into this thesis the newest method for making chromate salts and their important uses.

Oil And Gas Production Methods In Montana, Edgar A. Scholz May 1941

Oil And Gas Production Methods In Montana, Edgar A. Scholz

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Montana's oil and gas industries aggregate a gross income of over 12,000,000 annually to the state. Oil and gas fields have been thoroughly discussed in literature as to geology, location, production and future possibilities. The specific object of this report has been to compile a comprehensive study of the production methods as they occur.

The Geology And Ore Deposits Of The Ermont Mines, James L. Kelly May 1941

The Geology And Ore Deposits Of The Ermont Mines, James L. Kelly

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The Ermont Mines are located sixteen miles northwest of Dillon, Montana, in section 35 of T.6S., R.11W. This is in the central part of Beaverhead County. They are considered to be in the Argenta mining district, the town of Argenta lying three miles to the northeast.

The Concentration Of Scheelite From The Gold Concentrates Of The Jardine Mining Company, John H. Huxley May 1941

The Concentration Of Scheelite From The Gold Concentrates Of The Jardine Mining Company, John H. Huxley

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The Purpose of this thesis was to investigate the possibility of concentrating scheelite from Wilfley table gold concentrates from the mill of the Jardine Mining Company; and to determine whether such concentration is economically feasible and the product of sufficiently high grade to meet commercial specifications for such a product.

Ground Water In The Lake Basin Field And Adjacent Area, Herman Neibauer May 1941

Ground Water In The Lake Basin Field And Adjacent Area, Herman Neibauer

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

This thesis consists of studying the stratigraphic and structural features of the Lake Basin Field and an adjacent area with special emphasis upon the ground water conditions present.

Relationships Of Manganese Minerals In The Butte District, Charles F. Parent May 1941

Relationships Of Manganese Minerals In The Butte District, Charles F. Parent

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The use of manganese in the steel industry as a deoxidizing and desulfidizing agent makes it a necessity in modern industry, while the various alloy steels using manganese for the quality of toughness are also indispensable. Manganese is also used in the manufacture of such various articles as battery cells, paints and glass.

A Study Of The Concentration Of A Low-Grade Manganese Ore From The Ennis District, John B. Schuettenhelm May 1941

A Study Of The Concentration Of A Low-Grade Manganese Ore From The Ennis District, John B. Schuettenhelm

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The purpose of the investigation was to determine the most effective means of concentrating the manganese in the ore. The study was that of identification of the minerals present. This showed the presence of oxides of manganese and iron, and carbonates of calcium and manganese. Methods of investigation were planned to determined whether the ore could be concentrated effectively by gravity concentration methods.

A Study Of A Carbonaceous Gold Ore, James S. Huckaba Jan 1941

A Study Of A Carbonaceous Gold Ore, James S. Huckaba

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The presence of graphite in the ore of the Missouri-McKee Mine has made its treatment by the methods now used quite unsatisfactory. The study was undertaken to develop a new flow sheet which would give a high recovery and yet be economical enough to handle low grade material.
