Vengono definiti i differenti modi di trasporto di massa in base alle tre caratteristiche: tipo di sede, tecnologia ed esercizio. Vengono in particolare analizzati i modi di trasporto di media capacita attraverso un'analisi comparata tra la metropolitana leggera (LRT) ed i sistemi completamente automatizzati (AGT). Dall'analisi dei risultati si ricava un quadro d'assieme definito in termini quantitativi che permette di comprendere i differenti cam pi di utilizzazione lei modi considerati.

Mr. Vukan R. Vuchic deals with the latest developments of metro networks and with their future state in the 21st century.

He recalls the basic characteris­tics of metro and the positive and stimulating role it can play in large cities. While its first networks were opened more than a century ago, metro still knows an impor­tant growth: for example, it is the best adapted means of transport in some large cities in developing countries. Automatic Planning And Control Of Robot Natural Motion Via Feedback, Daniel E. Koditschek

A feedback control strategy for the command of robot motion includes some limited automatic planning capabilities. These may be seen as sequential solution algorithms implemented by the robot arm interpreted as a mechanical analog computer. This perspective lends additional insight into the manner in which such control techniques may fail, and motivates a fresh look at requisite sensory capabilities.
