Medical Technology: Contexts And Content In Science And Technology, Michael Demiranda, Mark Doggett, Jane Evans

Mark Doggett

Medical Technology: Contexts and Content in Science and Technology is one of a series of documents envisioned to assist educators in improving and strengthening students’ knowledge in a specific area of science and technology. Its purpose is to build a basic understanding of medical technology using historical perspective, conceptual framework, and educational vignettes. It was designed for use by educators who have an interest in introducing medical technology as part of a science, technology, mathematics, or applied engineering curriculum. The Standards for Technological Literacy (STL) published by the International Technology Education Association (ITEA) described twenty content standards in technology for ...

Cluster Treatment Of Characteristic Roots, Ctcr, A Unique Methodology For The Complete Robustness Analysis Of Linear Time Invariant Multiple Time Delay Systems Against Delay Uncertainties, Rifat Sipahi Dec 2004

Cluster Treatment Of Characteristic Roots, Ctcr, A Unique Methodology For The Complete Robustness Analysis Of Linear Time Invariant Multiple Time Delay Systems Against Delay Uncertainties, Rifat Sipahi

Rifat Sipahi

Today, many high-tech applications such as simultaneous metal machining, neural networks, internet data congestion, population dynamics, chemical processes, formation flight problems, etc., appear in the form of multiple time delay systems (MTDS ). Due to the presence of delays, the stability of the dynamics is under question and needs to be addressed. In the last four decades, the stability analysis of the general class, Linear Time Invariant MTDS (LTI-MTDS), has been one of the challenging problems of the systems and control community, which originates from the complex stability analysis due to their infinite dimensionality. For tackling this, a unique procedure is ...

Root Cause Analysis: A Framework For Tool Selection, Mark Doggett Dec 2004

Root Cause Analysis: A Framework For Tool Selection, Mark Doggett

Mark Doggett

This article provides a framework for analyzing the performance of three popular root cause analysis tools: the cause-and-effect diagram, the interrelationship diagram, and the current reality tree. The literature confirmed that these tools have the capacity to find root causes with varying degrees of accuracy and quality. The literature, however, lacks a means for selecting the appropriate root cause analysis tool based upon objective performance criteria. Some of the important performance characteristics of root cause analysis tools include the ability to find root causes, causal interdependencies, factor relationships, and cause categories. Root cause analysis tools must also promote focus, stimulate ...
