Test 217: Caterpiller "Diesel 35", Tractor Museum Jan 1933

Test 217: Caterpiller "Diesel 35", Tractor Museum

Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing ...

The Effects Of Temperature And Pressure Variation On The Process Of Cooking Foods, Benjamin M. Aldrich Jan 1933

The Effects Of Temperature And Pressure Variation On The Process Of Cooking Foods, Benjamin M. Aldrich

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

It is generally known that water has a definite boiling temperature for each pressure to which its surface is subjected and that wet steam generated in a closed vessel maintains a definite temperature-pressure relation. Under each condition of temperature and pressure the steam contains a fixed amount of available energy stored as heat and called, "Heat Content" the value of which is usually based upon an arbitrary zero fixed a 32 degrees F., the freezing temperature of water under one atmosphere of pressure.

Factors Affecting The Performance Of Kerosene Cook Stoves, Edna B. Snyder Nov 1932

Factors Affecting The Performance Of Kerosene Cook Stoves, Edna B. Snyder

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

The purpose of this investigation was to learn the effect of constructional details of the burner and the framework on the performance of kerosene stoves. Six stoves were used, four of the long-chimney type and two of the short-chimney type. Of the long-chimney burners, three were from the same manufacturer; the fourth was similar in appearance, but differed in performance. Of the short chimneys one burner used a wick, the other a lighting ring. The effect of: (1) draft variations and constructional details and (2) the framework on the heating time and thermal efficiency of stoves was studied.

A Study Of Washing Machines, Edna B. Snyder, Morton P. Brunig May 1931

A Study Of Washing Machines, Edna B. Snyder, Morton P. Brunig

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

The purpose of this investigation was to study the performance and constructional features of various types of washing machines. The machines studied were of four types, classified on the basis of mechanical construction. The types were dolly, gyrator, cylinder, and vacuum. Eight machines were studied, four of the gyrator type, two of the dolly type, one of the cylinder type, and one of the vacuum type. The material reported in this bulletin includes the following: (1) cleansing action of various washing machines and relation of cleanness of fabric to length of washing period, temperature of water, and size of load ...
