Testing And Analysis Of Low Cost Prosthetic Feet, Morgan Carpenter, Carolyn Hunter, Dean Rheaume

Assistive Technology Resource Center Projects

The Center for International Rehabilitation (CIR) is a non-profit organization working in developing countries to rehabilitate those who have lost their mobility after an amputation. CIR has developed a lower limb prosthetic (monolimb) for transtibial amputees, which is then rigidly attached to a prosthetic foot. CIR requested a study of the effect of coupling their monolimb with two existing prosthetic foot designs; the International Committee of the Red Cross’s SACH foot and Northwestern’s Shape and Roll (SR) prosthetic foot. The combination of the prosthetic feet and monolimb were modeled and studied using finite element analysis (FEA). The FEA ...

Assistive Technology Resource Center Projects

The Center for International Rehabilitation (CIR) has programs all over the world to provide people in developing countries with the training and equipment they need to supply prosthetic devices to local landmine victims. CIR has created a monolimb, which is a lower limb prosthesis where the socket and shank are molded from a single piece of thermoplastic material. The monolimb can be fabricated on-site with minimal equipment at a low-cost. The shank portion of the device, which replaces the tibial region of the leg, was investigated through a finite element analysis computer program, COSMOSWorks. The current prosthetic device utilized by ...

Implementation Of Best Practices In The Operation Of The Wpi Assistive Technology Resource Center, Christopher Lyons, Paul Trimby Mar 2008

Implementation Of Best Practices In The Operation Of The Wpi Assistive Technology Resource Center, Christopher Lyons, Paul Trimby

Assistive Technology Resource Center Projects

The purpose of this project is to investigate and review the operations of the Assistive Technology Resource Center (ATRC) of WPI and provide a strategic future plan. To ensure the efficiency and efficacy of operations, it becomes necessary for organizations to execute a periodical review of the operations and overall status of the organization through a performance review. The ATRC was founded in 1999. Using the original Mission Statement of the ATRC as the focus of the review, an understanding of the best practices for the ATRC was developed through the use of surveys sent to clinical, educational, governmental and ...
