"This thesis describes a method for determining the reflection and transmission characteristics of acoustic filters under static (i.e. no flow) conditions. These characteristics are obtained by the combination of linear plane wave acoustic theory with a sequential experimental procedure. The experimental data necessary for the calculation of the reflection characteristics were obtained from measurements made on the inlet side of the filter with a standing wave tube apparatus. In order to calculate the transmission characteristics of the filter, the standing wave measurements were augmented with measurements taken on both the inlet and outlet side of the filter.
