The Role Of The Gso Program In The Space Operations Career Field, Gregory J. Beloyne Dec 1994

The Role Of The Gso Program In The Space Operations Career Field, Gregory J. Beloyne

Theses and Dissertations

The number of Air Force officers graduating from the Air Force Institute of Technology's Graduate of Space Operations master's degree program is declining. Furthermore, the number of advanced academic degree jobs these officers fill within the Space Operations career field has been reduced. These events question the role the GSO program has in the Space operations career field. This research surveys the GSO populations to determine how useful their master's degrees have been in providing the skills and knowledge needed to fill the advanced degree positions. This research also addresses the number of officers entering the GSO program each year. …

Computer-Aided Instruction In Dynamics: Does It Improve Learning?, Ralph E. Flori

Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Since 1992, the authors have been developing and testing BEST Dynamics software (Basic Engineering Software for Teaching Dynamics) with the goal of transforming how engineering dynamics is taught at the University of Missouri-Rolla, USA. This paper introduces the "BEST" Dynamics and its classroom implementation, raises questions concerning the cognitive impact of the software, attempts to classify the type of learning environment used in BEST Dynamics, and gives some new directions that are being taken based on the authors'' observations and experiences.

Analysis Of The Jplan Exercise As An Experimental Learning Tool, Mark J. Lynch, Michael E. Washington Sep 1994

Analysis Of The Jplan Exercise As An Experimental Learning Tool, Mark J. Lynch, Michael E. Washington

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study is to develop an effective educational tool for the Combat Logistics course offered at the Air Force Institute of Technology. The current tool being used, the JPLAN Exercise, was identified as outdated in several areas. The research focused upon four investigative questions what makes an effective educational tool, should the existing exercise be revised or replaced, which logistics principles are essential for incorporation into the educational tool, and is the updated tool significantly different from the original. To answer these questions, we conducted an extensive literature review that focused on two areas. The first area …
