Bulletin of TUIT: Management and Communication Technologies

The article discusses the issues of ensuring noise immunity in digital broadcasting systems, shows the importance of the transition to the optimal code and the need to use it in the field of noiseless coding in various areas of telecommunication transmission and reception of digital signals. The previous algorithms and error-correcting coding methods based on the Gray code, which are used in multi-level digital broadcast modulation schemes to minimize the intensity of bit errors, are highlighted. A model of error-correcting coding by the Gray method and methods for estimating the probability of error for the Gray code are presented. Based …

Techno-Economic Analysis Of Diethyl Ether Production Via Catalytic Dehydration Of Ethanol, Boonraksa Chaiapha Jan 2020

Techno-Economic Analysis Of Diethyl Ether Production Via Catalytic Dehydration Of Ethanol, Boonraksa Chaiapha

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The major source of energy comes from non-renewable fuels, which have a non-sustainability and negative impact on the environment. Thus, there is change to renewable fuels as bioethanol. Diethyl ether (DEE) is a part of bioethanol. However, the increase of electric vehicles (EV) may decrease ethanol demand for biofuel in the future. Thus, it will be interesting in adding value to ethanol via the catalytic dehydration to produce DEE by conduct techno-economic analysis. Further, there is comparison on different concentrations of ethanol (93% and 95% ethanol) that affect DEE production. For simulation part, the DEE capacity of 3,600 tons/year is …

Improvement Of 802.11 Protocol On Fully Programmable Wireless Radio, Eunji Lee May 2018

Improvement Of 802.11 Protocol On Fully Programmable Wireless Radio, Eunji Lee

Undergraduate Research & Mentoring Program

The growth in the number of connected device usage has led to a rapidly increased data traffic on wireless network and the demand for access to high speed and stable Internet connection is becoming more prominent. However, current off the shelf wireless cards are not programmable or observable across layers of the standard protocol stack, which leads to poor practical performance. Thus, Wireless Open Access Research Platform (WARP), a scalable wireless platform providing programmable functionality at every layer of the network stack, has been used for the real-time implementation and improvement of 802.11 protocol.

An Analysis Of Lora Low Power Technology And Its Applications, Gomathy Venkata Krishnan May 2018

An Analysis Of Lora Low Power Technology And Its Applications, Gomathy Venkata Krishnan

Undergraduate Research & Mentoring Program

The number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has exponentially increased in the last decade. With the increase in these devices, there is a necessity to effectively connect and control these devices remotely. Cellular technologies cannot handle this demand since they are not cost effective and easy to deploy. This is where LoRa technology comes handy. LoRa is long-range, low-power, low cost technology that supports internet of things applications. LoRa has many advantages in terms of capacity, mobility, battery lifetime and cost. It uses the unlicensed 915MHz ISM band and can be easily deployed.

This research is focused on setting …

An Ant-Based Sensor Measurement Data Gathering System, Bolun Zhang, Dimitrios Peroulis Oct 2013

An Ant-Based Sensor Measurement Data Gathering System, Bolun Zhang, Dimitrios Peroulis

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Symposium

Large-scale industries involved with a great amount of sensor measurements in their work are facing many challenges in data collection. Sensors are not on the same network; therefore each measurement has to be managed separately. Gathering all the measurement data to one terminal could be difficult. Once a measurement is obtained, it takes significant amount of time to process the data. The approaches our group takes here is to build a giant ANT wireless network that holds all the sensors’ measurements. To be more specific, every sensor has an ANT chip set up on its side. Each ANT chip is as …

Wireless Transmission Network : A Imagine, Radhey Shyam Meena Engineer, Neeraj Kumar Garg Asst.Prof Apr 2013

Wireless Transmission Network : A Imagine, Radhey Shyam Meena Engineer, Neeraj Kumar Garg Asst.Prof

Radhey Shyam Meena

World cannot be imagined without electrical power. Generally the power is transmitted through transmission networks. This paper describes an original idea to eradicate the hazardous usage of electrical wires which involve lot of confusion in particularly organizing them. Imagine a future in which wireless power transfer is feasible: cell phones, household robots, mp3 players, laptop computers and other portable electronic devices capable of charging themselves without ever being plugged in freeing us from that final ubiquitous power wire. This paper includes the techniques of transmitting power without using wires with an efficiency of about 95% with non-radioactivemethods. In this paper …

Battery Energy Storage System In Solar Power Generation, Radhey Shyam Meena Er., Deepa Sharma Mar 2013

Battery Energy Storage System In Solar Power Generation, Radhey Shyam Meena Er., Deepa Sharma

Radhey Shyam Meena

Grid-connected solar PV dramatically changes the load profile of an electric utility customer. The expected widespread adoption of solar generation by customers on the distribution system poses significant challenges to system operators both in transient and steady state operation, from issues including voltage swings, sudden weather-induced changes in generation, and legacy protective devices designed with one-way power flow in mind

Battery Energy Storage System In Solar Power Generation, Radhey Shyam Meena Er. Jan 2013

Battery Energy Storage System In Solar Power Generation, Radhey Shyam Meena Er.

Radhey Shyam Meena

As solar photovoltaic power generation becomes more commonplace, the inherent intermittency of the solar resource poses one of the great challenges to those who would design and implement the next generation smart grid. Specifically, grid-tied solar power generation is a distributed resource whose output can change extremely rapidly, resulting in many issues for the distribution system operator with a large quantity of installed photovoltaic devices. Battery energy storage systems are increasingly being used to help integrate solar power into the grid. These systems are capable of absorbing and delivering both real and reactive power with sub-second response times. With these …

Is Tech M&A Value-Additive?, Ani Deshmukh Nov 2012

Is Tech M&A Value-Additive?, Ani Deshmukh

Undergraduate Economic Review

Given rising M&A deal volume across all high-tech subsectors, the ability to measure post-acquisition performance becomes critical. Despite this growth, the relevant academic literature is severely lacking (Kohers and Kohers 2000). Using an event-study approach, I find that acquirers and targets both realize statistically significant day-0 abnormal returns (1.23% [p<0.1] and 8.1% [p<0.01], respectively). As positive stock returns signal positive growth prospects in a semi-strong efficient market, AR regressions found that firms' technological relatedness, deal financing, purchase price premiums, and the relative book to market ratio, explained most variance. Overall, high-tech transactions are value-additive for both targets and acquirers.

Project 308: Augmented Reality Mario Kart, Joseph Abad, David Allender, Joryl Calizo, Ryan Gaspar, Gavin Lee

Computer Engineering

Mario Kart is a popular go-kart racing game developed by Nintendo. The premise of the game is simple: drive a go-kart along a racetrack and reach the finish line before the other players. What makes this game unique, however, is the inclusion of weapons, traps, and other projectiles that a player can use to gain an advantage in the race. We have taken on the challenge of not only recreating this amazing game, but using the art of Augmented Reality to fully immerse the player in the full experience. Rather than play the game on a television screen with a …
