Analysis Of Center Of Pressure And Center Of Mass To Determine Patterns Of Postural Stability In Neurotypical Subjects, Natalie Tipton
Analysis Of Center Of Pressure And Center Of Mass To Determine Patterns Of Postural Stability In Neurotypical Subjects, Natalie Tipton
Masters Theses
The body’s postural control mechanism is responsible for responding to perturbations of balance and keeping the body upright. One of the main ways that this is completed during quiet standing, where both feet are planted on the ground, is through center of pressure oscillations. In these oscillations, the center of pressure circles around the center of mass, constantly counteracting any lean that exists in the body. These oscillations can be recorded with floorembedded force plates and center of mass can be recorded with a motion capture system. In this research, these signals were recorded for stances with feet together and …
A Dorsal Hand Vein Extraction Algorithm For Region Of Interest, Li Qi, Jianjiang Cui, Dingyu Xue, Hongyu Geng
A Dorsal Hand Vein Extraction Algorithm For Region Of Interest, Li Qi, Jianjiang Cui, Dingyu Xue, Hongyu Geng
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The rotation and translation of dorsal hand result in deviation, which brings interference during recognizing valid region when collecting dorsal hand vein image. In order to locate valid recognition area quickly, an extraction algorithm for region of interest based on maximum inscribed circle is proposed in view of the characteristics of the collected image. For the collected dorsal hand vein image, this algorithm calculates the center of the maximum inscribed circle and the center of mass, and the rotation angle of the dorsal hand is calculated. The position of the dorsal hand vein image is corrected and the recognition …
Tracking Center Of Mass With Limited Inertial Measurement Units, Connor Nathaniel Morrow
Tracking Center Of Mass With Limited Inertial Measurement Units, Connor Nathaniel Morrow
Dissertations and Theses
Wearable motion tracking systems pose an opportunity to study and correct human balance and posture during movement. Currently, these observations are either being conducted in laboratories with the use of camera systems and markers placed on the body, or through the use of suits containing large numbers (15-20) of inertial measurement units. However, to aid with rehabilitation of individuals with impaired balance, there needs to be an option to collect these observations outside of clinics and without incurring much cost from the user. I have focused on three inertial measurement units, one placed on each shank and one placed on …

Analysis And Energy Reduction Of Humanoid Robot Motions – Stand Up And Sit Down, Ercan Elibol
Analysis And Energy Reduction Of Humanoid Robot Motions – Stand Up And Sit Down, Ercan Elibol
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This research studies the electrical power reduction and control analysis of various motion tasks of a humanoid robot. These motions include standing up and sitting down. Each motion’s tasks have their stable and unstable phases throughout the complete motion cycle. Unstable phases can be caused by gravity forces and improper handling of the upper body of the humanoid robot leaning too forward or backward. Even though most of the dynamic motions seem to be accomplished very simply by humans; standing up and sitting down could create challenges for humanoid robots. Some of the critical challenges researches face are: dynamic nature …
