In this paper, ultracapacitors are used as short-term storages for the frequency control of grid-connected microgrid that consists of photovoltaic panels, fuel cells, and the battery packs as long-term storages. A new ground-penetrating radar system that can determine the depth and position of a buried metal cylinder, which is the combination of an optical fiber sensor (OFS), continuous-wave transmitter, and optical communication link, is proposed and simulated in the MATLAB and Optiwave program packages. Employing an optical sensor instead of a standard radio frequency (RF) receiver offers the advantage of preventing electromagnetic interference along the sensor's main unit cable and lower amplification noise. This paper presents an investigation of the effect and optimization of stator geometry design parameters on the performance of synchronous reluctance machines (SynRMs). The level of importance of the stator design variable on the characteristic of the SynRM is determined using both the Taguchi method and a parametric analysis. An optimum design parameter combination is obtained using sensitivity analysis along with signal-to-noise ratio results. This paper investigates the enhancement of sliding mode control (SMC) with the combined use of feedforward torque compensation and proportional error feedback control. The proposed enhancement is adapted to the control of permanent magnet (PM) DC motor drives by synthesis of the equivalent control equation augmented as proportional feedback and feedforward terms. The problem of discrete-time modeling of the lumped-parameter Hamiltonian systems is considered for engineering applications. Hence, a novel gradient-based method is presented, exploiting the discrete gradient concept and the forward Euler discretization under the assumption of the continuous Hamiltonian model is known. It is proven that the proposed discrete-time model structure defines a symplectic difference system and has the energy-conserving property under some conditions. A novel short-term load forecasting method based on the lazy learning (LL) algorithm is proposed. The LL algorithm's input data are electrical load information, daily electricity consumption patterns, and temperatures in a specified region. This work presents an ultra-lightweight, cryptographic, mutual authentication protocol for radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags. The proposed scheme is more secure than its predecessors. The vulnerabilities of previous schemes based on triangular functions and rotation have been demonstrated in traditional and rotational cryptanalysis. In this paper, we summarize the successful attacks on previous schemes and demonstrate further attacks on 3 recent ultra-lightweight protocols. The main objective of this manuscript is to design a high-order sliding-mode observer to provide finite time estimation of unmeasurable states (x_4: oxygen mass, x_5: nitrogen mass) together with the oxygen excess ratio (ratio of the input oxygen flow to the reacted oxygen flow in the cathode). This is done by applying second-order sliding modes through either super twisting or suboptimal controllers to control the proton exchange membrane fuel cell's breathing. This study improves the performance of primal--dual interior-point method in inverse conductivity problems via replacing the conventional, complicatedly calculated scalar regularization parameter with a diagonal matrix termed ``multi-regularization parameter matrix'' here. The solution of the PD--IPM depends considerably on the choice of the regularization parameter. Calculation of the optimal regularization parameter, which yields the most accurate solution, is not simple due to the long iterative nature of the algorithm. In this study, the rate equation analysis of a BH-laser diode was performed for output carrier density (N_o) using the zero-degree solution of the Volterra series. The carrier rate equation of the laser diode was analyzed in terms of input carrier density (N_i) and output carrier density modeling (N_i-N_o), with respect to the DC current (I_o). The polynomial root, which is obtained from the zero-degree solution (N_o) and limit values of I_o, was found. For the linear operation of the laser diode, the range of I_o current was also determined using a linearization approach and the maximum value of N_o.

Benchmarking is based on measurements of standard key performance indicators (KPIs) in one of the metropolitan cities of Turkey, Ankara. Performance benchmarking is formulated by incorporating customer perception by conducting surveys on how important KPIs are from the user's point of view. KPIs are measured, with standard test equipment, by drive test method on specified routes. This paper proposes a hysteresis band (HB) current control technique to reduce the power losses in a shunt active filter. During a switching period in the zero-crossing region, the inverter output current flows through a transistor. By changing the direction, it flows through the free-wheeling diode of the same switch in an inverter leg, or vice versa. The shunt active filter current typically has 6 zero-crossing regions during a fundamental frequency cycle. A system for monitoring and predicting indoor air quality level is proposed in this paper. The system comprises a computer with a monitoring program and a sensor cell, which has an array of metal oxide gas sensors along with a temperature and humidity sensor. The gas sensors in the cell have been chosen to detect only hydrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide gases. Methane was selected as a representative for indoor combustible gases, and carbon monoxide was used to represent indoor toxic gases. Developing a robust method for liver segmentation from magnetic resonance images is a challenging task because of the similar intensity values between adjacent organs, the geometrically complex liver structure, and injection of contrast media. A multirobot system provides many advantages over a single robot. In certain situations, robots need to maintain global connectivity while proceeding through tasks such as traveling to spots of interest in an area. This paper formulates the problem of multiple robots traveling while constrained by connectivity and analyzes the limits of increase in total traveling distance (TTD) caused by connectivity constraints. A connection condition is proposed and proven, which can be used to direct the design of solutions. Time delays are often instability sources and give rise to undesired oscillation and performance degradation, so it is necessary to consider delay in general congestion control schemes. In this paper, a new system model for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is established in discrete time, subsystems including delay are presented, and the overall model is achieved by blending these subsystems. For controller synthesis, common quadratic Lyapunov functions and a new approach based on nonquadratic Lyapunov functions are utilized, and a controller is designed to stabilize each subsystem.
