Thermal-Kinect Fusion Scanning System For Bodyshape Inpainting And Estimation Under Clothing, Sirazum Munira Tisha Nov 2019

Thermal-Kinect Fusion Scanning System For Bodyshape Inpainting And Estimation Under Clothing, Sirazum Munira Tisha

LSU Master's Theses

In today's interactive world 3D body scanning is necessary in the field of making virtual avatar, apparel industry, physical health assessment and so on. 3D scanners that are used in this process are very costly and also requires subject to be nearly naked or wear a special tight fitting cloths. A cost effective 3D body scanning system which can estimate body parameters under clothing will be the best solution in this regard. In our experiment we build such a body scanning system by fusing Kinect depth sensor and a Thermal camera. Kinect can sense the depth of the subject and …

A Study Of Hough Transform For Weld Extraction, Rakesh Gunaseelan Jan 2010

A Study Of Hough Transform For Weld Extraction, Rakesh Gunaseelan

LSU Master's Theses

The process of joining metals is called welding. At times, selecting a poor quality material or improper usage of welding technologies may cause defects in welded joints. Some of these welded joints have to be tested nondestructively, because their failure can cause lot of damage, for instance in power plants. Radiography is a very common method for non-destructive testing of welds. It is done by certified weld inspectors who have knowledge about weld flaws, looking at the radiograph of the welded joint with naked eye. The judgment of the weld inspector can be biased; subjective, because it is dependent on …

Image Processing Techniques To Identify Predatory Birds In Aquacultural Settings, Uma Devi Nadimpalli Jan 2005

Image Processing Techniques To Identify Predatory Birds In Aquacultural Settings, Uma Devi Nadimpalli

LSU Master's Theses

Bird predation is a major problem in aquaculture. A novel method for dispersing birds is the use of a vehicle that can sense and chase birds. Image recognition software can improve their efficiency in chasing birds. Three recognition techniques were tested to identify birds 1) image morphology 2) artificial neural networks, and 3) template matching have been tested. A study was conducted on three species of birds 1) pelicans, 2) egrets, and 3) cormorants. Images were divided into 3 types 1) Type 1, 2) Type 2, and 3) Type 3 depending upon difficulty to separate from the others in the …

Towards Automated Capture Of 3d Foot Geometry For Custom Orthoses, Rajeev Madazhy Jan 2004

Towards Automated Capture Of 3d Foot Geometry For Custom Orthoses, Rajeev Madazhy

LSU Master's Theses

This thesis presents a novel method of capturing 3D foot geometry from images for custom shoe insole manufacture. Orthopedic footwear plays an important role as a treatment and prevention of foot conditions associated with diabetes. Through the use of customized shoe insoles, a podiatrist can provide a means to better distribute the pressure around the foot, and can also correct the biomechanics of the foot. Different foot scanners are used to obtain the geometric plantar surface of foot, but are expensive and more generic in nature. The focus of this thesis is to build 3D foot structure from a pair …

Fine Aggregate Characterization Using Digital Image Analysis, Tongyan Pan Jan 2002

Fine Aggregate Characterization Using Digital Image Analysis, Tongyan Pan

LSU Master's Theses

A comprehensive literature review shows that performance of hot mix asphalt (HMA) is influenced by properties of aggregate. Current situation is that only limited efforts were dedicated to aggregate tests and criteria on aggregate, compared to researches on new binder tests, especially to that of fine aggregate. Superpave (Superior Performing Asphalt Pavement) tests/criteria on aggregate need to reflect those properties that influence performance. Representatives of the aggregate industry and the Superpave Mixture/Aggregate ETG (Expert Task Group) have reached the consensus for the need to improve aggregate tests and criteria as one of the most needed aspects left to complete in …
