"This thesis represents a study of the effects of turbulent motion on heat transfer coefficients on cylindrical pipe.
The turbulent motion was created by cutting transverse slots in a spiral configuration along the pipe length.
An induction heater was used for the heat source and water as the cooling medium. The water was conducted over the pipe surface and through the slots.
This caused the laminar layer along the pipe surface to be broken up and an increase in the heat transfer coefficient was experienced.
