In this work, a series of all-d-metal Heusler alloys, X 2 - x Mn 1 + x V (X = Pd, Ni, Pt, Ag, Au, Ir, Co; x; = 1, 0), were predicted by first principles. The series can be roughly divided into two categories: XMn 2 V (Mn-rich type) and X 2 MnV (Mn-poor type). Using optimized structural analysis, it is shown that the ground state of these all-d-metal Heusler alloys does not fully meet the site-preference rule for classic full-Heusler alloys. Dissipation-free MgB2 superconducting wires are valuable in terms of practical applications. Herein, we have found a strong correlation between critical current density (J c ) and the n-value extracted from the electric field versus current density characteristic. The power-law relationship (m) between the J c and the n-value, n∝Jmc , represents a critical index which is strongly dependent on operating temperatures.

The influence of different boron precursor powders on the critical current density of MgB2 superconductor with added Ni-Co-B nanoparticles is investigated. Different types of boron have different morphologies, particle sizes and impurity content, all of which have a strong impact on the critical current density (Jc). The latest discovery of possible high-temperature superconductivity in the single-layer FeSe film grown on a SrTiO3 substrate has generated much attention. Initial work found that, while the single-layer FeSe/SrTiO3 film exhibits a clear signature of superconductivity, the double-layer film shows an insulating behaviour. Such a marked layer-dependent difference is surprising and the underlying origin remains unclear. Here we report a comparative angleresolved photoemission study between the single-layer and double-layer FeSe/SrTiO3 films annealed in vacuum. We have developed a facile, scaled up, efficient and morphology-based novel WO3-g-C3N4 photocatalyst with different mass ratios of WO3 and g-C3N4. It was used for the photodegradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation and it showed excellent enhanced photocatalytic efficiency as compared to pure g-C3N4 and WO3. The apparent performance of the composite/hybrid was 3.65 times greater than pure WO3 and 3.72 times greater than pure g-C3N4 respectively, and it was also found to be much higher than the previously reported ones. The magnetic superconductor Ru0.9Sr2YCu2.1O7.9 (Ru-1212Y) has been investigated using neutron diffraction under variable temperature and magnetic field. With the complementary information from magnetization measurements, we propose a magnetic phase diagram T-H for the Ru-1212 system. Uniaxial antiferromagnetic (AFM) order of 1.2μ B/Ru atoms with moments parallel to the c-axis is found below the magnetic transition temperature at ~140 K in the absence of magnetic field. An epitaxial La0.8Ca0.2MnO3/LaAlO 3 (LCMO/LAO) thin film was fabricated using the pulsed laser deposition technique to evaluate the correlation between the crystal structure and the magnetocaloric effect. In our study, the LCMO film was 200 nm in thickness and appeared to have a strong out-of plane texture. We found that each column in the LCMO thin film layer is a domain which has a different ordering direction. These microscopic feature results in anisotropic properties of magnetization, entropy, and relative cooling power. The transport and magnetic properties of 10 wt % malic acid and 5 wt % nanocarbon doped MgB2 have been studied by measuring the resistivity (p), critical current density (jc), connectivity factor (AF), irreversibility field (Hirr), and upper critical field (Hc2). A comprehensive study of the effects of carbohydrate doping on the superconductivity of MgB2 has been conducted. In accordance with the dual reaction model, more carbon substitution is achieved at lower sintering temperature. As the sintering temperature is lowered, lattice disorder is increased. Disorder is an important factor determining the transition temperature for the samples studied in this work, as evidenced from the correlations among the lattice strain, the resistivity, and the transition temperature.
