Porous materials are widely used as passive acoustic absorbers. For optimal design, it is often necessary to know the viscoelastic properties of these materials in the frequency range relevant to their application. The viscoelastic properties are obtained by fitting an analytical model to acoustical radiation experimental measurements carried out on a circular coated plate clamped in a rigid baffle. Measurements Of Oh Mole Fraction And Temperature Up To 20 Khz By Using A Diode-Laser-Based Uv Absorption Sensor, Terrence Meyer, Sukesh Roy, Thomas Anderson, Joseph Miller, Vlswanath Katta, Robert Lucht, James Gord

Diode-laser-based sum-frequency generation of ultraviolet (UV) radiation at 313.5 nm was utilized for high-speed absorption measurements of OH mole fraction and temperature at rates up to 20 kHz. Sensor performance was characterized over a wide range of operating conditions in a 25.4 mm path-length, steady, C2H4-air diffusion flame through comparisons with coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS), planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), and a two-dimensional numerical simulation with detailed chemical kinetics. Experimental uncertainties of 5% and 11% were achieved for measured temperatures and OH mole fractions, respectively, with standard deviations of <3% at 20 kHz and an OH detection limit of <1 part per million in a l m path length. After validation in a steady flame, high-speed diode-laser-based measurements of OH mole fraction and temperature were demonstrated for the first time in the unsteady exhaust of a liquid-fueled, swirl-stabilized combustor. Typical agreement of 5% was achieved with CARS temperature measurements at various fuel/air ratios, and sensor precision was sufficient to capture oscillations of temperature and OH mole fraction for potential use with multiparameter control strategies in combustors of practical interest.

The paper presents some problems related to the environmental impact of waste incineration plants with particular emphasis on the impact on air quality and the assessment of this impact carried out for newly built incinerators. Methodology for the calculation of emissions for new plants based on emission standards was proposed. It has been shown that waste incineration plants complying with emission limit values to a negligible extent affect the air quality, especially in the case of units with small capacity.

In this study, we propose a new computational paradigm based on the use of the Kalman filtering technique adjusted to reconstruct the dynamic behavior of the physical and electrical characteristics of different environmental monitoring data provided via reconstructive SAR imagery. As a matter of particular study we develop and report the Kalman filter-based algorithm for high-resolution filtration of the dynamic behavior of the hydrological indexes of the particular real-world SAR images of the test remotely sensed scenes. The simulation results verify the efficiency of the proposed approach.

This paper deals with thermodynamic chemical equilibrium analysis using the method of direct minimization of Gibbs free energy for all possible CH4 and CO2 reactions. The effects of CO2/CH4 feed ratio, reaction temperature, and system pressure on equilibrium composition, conversion, selectivity and yield were studied. In addition, carbon and no carbon formation regions were also considered at various reaction temperatures and CO2/CH4 feed ratios in the reaction system at equilibrium. A new hybrid numerical approach, using Weighted Sum of Squared Objective Functions (WSSOF) algorithm, was developed for multiresponses optimization of carbon dioxide oxidative coupling of methane (CO2 OCM). The optimization was aimed to obtain optimal process parameters and catalyst compositions with high catalytic performances. The hybrid numerical approach combined the single-response modeling and optimization using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and WSSOF technique of multi-responses optimization. The hybrid algorithm resulted in Pareto-optimal solutions and an additional criterion was proposed over the solutions to obtain a final unique optimal solution.
