Why Do Indiana Pre-Service Technology Education Majors Choose The Profession, Traves L. Freeland

The purpose of this descriptive study was to look at the factors that influence pre-service technology education majors to choose to become teachers. The pre-service teachers of three Indiana technology education teacher preparatory programs were given an internet survey to collect demographic data and determine what factors influence current pre-service teachers. The results of this study were compared to the results from a study done by Harris (2007). The findings resulted in similar factors that were the most common identified as being influential. Collecting intersection turning movement counts at intersections is an essential data collection task for many types of traffic engineering studies. On a daily basis, consulting firms and agencies collect turning movement counts that are used for preparing traffic impact studies, determining design hours for road improvements, and the retiming of traffic signals. Although there is a substantial body of literature on the stochastic nature of traffic volumes and how they vary by time, day of week, and season, the literature is quite sparse on how accurately turning movement counts can be collected at signalized intersections. GPS is a technology that allows for accurate tracking of various parameters, namely speed and location. Many modern systems and tools require a rapidly-refreshing report of their speed and/or location, but the GPS technology available to most users may not be accurate enough for some applications. Methods currently

exist to improve GPS accuracy, but many or all of these methods are expensive, difficult, or simply not available without special technology and permission.
