Modeling, Control And Characterization Of Aircraft Electric Power Systems, Hadi Ebrahimi

Electrical Engineering Theses

A study model of advanced aircraft electric power system (AAEPS) corresponding to B767 Aircraft is developed in the PSIM9 software environment. The performance characteristics of the system under consideration for large sharing of non-linear loads are studied. A comprehensive mathematical model describing system dynamics is derived where the GSSA technique is applied for reduced-order system approximation. The transient and steady-state performance of the hybrid PEM-FC/battery APU integrated to the aircraft electric network is analyzed while different loading scenarios are taken into account. In addition, dynamic bifurcation analysis is employed to characterize the systems stability performance under multi-parameters condition. Also, the …

Power Quality And Voltage Stability Of Power Systems With A Large Share Of Distributed Energy Resources, Yuva Nandan Reddy Chejerla Apr 2012

Power Quality And Voltage Stability Of Power Systems With A Large Share Of Distributed Energy Resources, Yuva Nandan Reddy Chejerla

Electrical Engineering Theses

The main objective of this research is to model and characterize power systems with a large share of distributed energy resources. The effect of integrating distributed energy resources such as wind farms, photovoltaic arrays, fuel cell stacks and micro-hydroelectric generators on the power quality and voltage stability of power systems is investigated and characterized. A comprehensive power system model was developed in Matlab/Simulink environment. Stand-alone and grid-connected models of distributed energy resources were developed and integrated into the system under investigation. Several characteristics such bus voltage profiles, voltage transients, power flow, and total harmonic distortion are captured and investigated. The …
