School districts should be organized in an efficient manner while also being equitable to all. Reorganization of school districts could help meet these criteria. At present Michigan has 529 school districts varying in size from 75 to 200,000 students. Due to the large variation in number of students in districts, it is very difficult to achieve equity. During the period 1940 to 1964, progress toward equity occurred when school district reorganizations dropped the number of districts from 6,239 to 545. A case study has been used to examine women administrators managing subordinate women managers in an educational organization. This study focused on four women administrators in a community college, including the president, vice-president, two deans, and subordinate women managers who report to the four women administrators.
Participant observations, interviews, and document analysis were supplemented by use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to investigate the research question: How do individual characteristics relate to management relationships of four women administrators working with subordinate women managers? The purpose of this study was to explore relationships between two recognized personality assessment instruments, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI), both developed for normal, healthy adults. The extent and direction of the MBTI-HBDI relationships were determined through analyses of data from administration of both instruments to the same population, 800 student program managers attending the Defense Systems Management College (DSMC), Fort Belvoir, Virginia, during 1986-1987.
The research hypothesis, formulated from psychological theory, brain dominance research, and empirical literature sources, postulated specific relationships among the 16 MBTI types and HBDI quadrants. In addition, six …

The literature of adult education provides a broad spectrum of characteristics necessary for adult educators to practice in this emerging field. It was the purpose of this study to take some major steps toward developing an assessment instrument indicating the beliefs, feelings and behaviors adult educators need to possess. The instrument emphasizes the teacher's personal and contextual identification, actions and competencies in the classroom, and philosophical beliefs for guiding practice. There is a high degree of educational need in a correctional setting. In one states, 60% of the total number incarcerated are unable to read and write. The increase of that population is of some concern. In 1925, state and federal prisons held 79 people per one-hundred thousand inmates, and in 1985 the number had risen to 201 per one-hundred thousand. The thrust of the most prominent proposals for educational reform in the 1980s has been to make the schools more efficient at servicing the needs of the dominant social order. In the meantime, a backlog of neglected social problems has developed which points up the need for schools to develop the critical faculties of their students. In fact, a wide range of telling statistics on the socioeconomic aspects of American education show that the schools themselves are severely impacted by the inequalities present in the larger society- particularly along racial lines. The need for a critical pedagogy is acute.
