The purpose of this study is to understand how prepared teachers in two countries are to utilize technology effectively in a physical and virtual classroom environment. This research is a comparative study of Saudi Arabian and US preservice teachers’ readiness for technology integration in their actual teaching practices. Survey methodology was used to measure both knowledge and attitudinal variables found to be important to later integration of technology into teaching among preservice teachers. Teacher Perceptions Of Technology In The Elementary Classroom, Allison Schnell

This qualitative, collective case study examines teacher perceptions surrounding the use of technology within three elementary classrooms. With a focus on student behavior, learning and motivation, Ryan & Deci’s Self-Determination Theory (SDT) is used as a theoretical framework for this research, providing insight into motivation and behavior. Findings suggest that while technology offers an incentive for some students, concerns regarding the overdependence on technology were apparent among all participants. This research sheds light on teacher perceptions surrounding technology and how it impacts children in and out of the classroom.

A Case Study Of Classroom Blogging In Three Elementary Schools, Betty M. Ebrecht, Heng-Yu Ku

The purpose of this study was to explore how three 3rd – 5th grade teachers used classroom blogging as an instructional activity to support students’ literacy and technology skills. A qualitative case study was used as the methodological approach and four data sources were analyzed. Results of the study suggested teacher-participants implemented classroom blogging as a way to enhance student literacy skills while introducing and practicing a number of essential technology skills. Teachers described classroom blogging as a collaborative activity that could be easily embedded into existing literacy instruction.
