This study was intended to reveal: (1) the dimensions of musical interpretation taught; (2) the strategy used by teachers to introduce musical interpretation in instrument practice class; and (3) teacher's ability or competence to teach musical interpretation. This research is case study, with the subjects were 12 teachers responsible for instrument practice class. They were selected using purposive sampling method. The data collection method used were in-depth interviews, passive participation observation, documentation and focus group discussion (FGD). The instrument of study was the researcher herself. The role of an academic is often spread across two main areas: researching and teaching. Although some argue that the scarcity of time, energy, and commitment precludes the ability to do both well, and are therefore substitutes, we argue that these roles can be complementary. That is, by incorporating original research into the classroom, several benefits can be gleaned by both faculty and students. We feel that if done correctly, a professor’s research and teaching can mutually benefit, as well. In the 20th century, English played an important role in international communication as an international language. English is a bridge between countries' economies, cultures, and trade. However, current English education in Chinese high schools is still test-oriented which is ineffective, and students are tired of it. The purpose of this project is to create a curriculum for high school English teachers in China to use games to teach English language skills. This autoethnographic work explores my experience with illness (specifically anti-N-methyl D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis), recovery, and career change all in the span of a few months. Through reflexive interviews and a first-person narrative, I analyzed the shifting nature of my identity, specifically my teacher identity as I moved from struggling teacher, to patient, and back to teacher again. I also analyzed how the act of writing, and writing the narrative of this autoethnography, assisted in the healing process. My story shows that in moving from pre-illness to post-illness, I shifted from a strict, content-based teacher to a constructivist facilitator with …

This article describes what undergraduate students learned from participating in a museum docent program at a large, public university on the West Coast of the United States. The majority (93%) of students report an increase in their ability to effectively communicate specialized knowledge to museum visitors in one or more of the following ways: 1) identifying what visitors know and adjusting their explanations accordingly; 2) translating technical information to visitors; 3); communicating information in an active, hands-on manner; 4) confidently communicating their knowledge to others. All children in the United States have the right to an equitable education, regardless of gender, religion, class, race, culture, language, or dis/ability. The literature demonstrates that financial, educational, and legal outcomes are disproportionately negative for those students falling outside of white able-bodied norms and that educational institutions often perpetuate exclusive policies and practices that disproportionately impact culturally linguistically diverse students with dis/abilities. A critical examination of the sociopolitical and contextual factors that fortify the barriers faced by marginalized groups highlights the need for a culturally responsive approach to educating students with multidimensional identities.

While acknowledging the diverse setting, audience, and purpose of introductory courses, existing research assumes that courses offered by different disciplines share the same goals and teaching practices. The purpose of this study is to examine the objectives for student outcomes and pedagogical delivery of introductory statistics courses in various academic departments to provide explicit evidence for this assumption. In this article, I provide an analysis of my work (1985–present) with non-major biology students and science teacher candidates in developing strategies for teaching and enhancing learning with respect to evolutionary science. As faculty have the most direct line to students on a regular basis, it should be determined if adjunct faculty are satisfied with various aspects of their jobs. Additionally, to aid the large adjunct faculty teaching force, higher education institutions are implementing centralized curriculum at higher rates particularly in online courses. In educational interventions, Hilty and colleagues (Gish &Hilty, 2018; Hilty, 2017; Hilty, Gish, Gill-Rocha, 2017a, 2017b; Hilty et al., 2017c; Hilty et al., 2018a, 2018b, 2018c, 2018d, 2018e, 2018f) have evaluated teaching strategies for increasing student self-efficacy in relation to statistics. One teaching strategy intervention involved RN Faculty offering 20-minute presentations in their expert areas. A hypothetical database was created based on the RN presentation demostrating the relationship between the field of nursing and statistics.
