This study compared attitudes of elementary school teachers and secondary school teachers on cursive handwriting. The investigation included secondary and elementary teacher requirements of cursive handwriting and special education students’ requirement of cursive handwriting. The subjects were educators from a middle sized urban school district in Niagara County in upstate New York. The results of the study came from a researcher prepared questionnaire. The research found secondary and elementary school teachers to have similar attitudes regarding cursive handwriting being a necessity for the upcoming century. In this study, twenty parents of children with learning disabilities were surveyed to discover their attitudes toward education. The subjects were selected from those eligible and those attending a voluntary support group for parents of children with learning disabilities. It was discovered that parents react differently to the initial diagnosis of a learning disability. The data showed parents felt comfortable discussing their children's progress with school officials and were willing to advocate for their children whenever necessary. Case Study: Effects Of A Systematic Method Of Vocabulary Instruction On A Disabled Learner, Sharon A. Barrett-Bassi

This descriptive case study examined the effects of instruction in a systematic method of vocabulary instruction which included a mnemonic component on the fifteen-year-old learning disabled female with memory deficits. The researcher and subject met for nine forty-five minute sessions over a period of four weeks. At the end of the study, changes in the subject included increased self-confidence about her ability to learn vocabulary independently. She gained the confidence to volunteer vocabulary related answers in another class, a behavior which the subject reported was something she would not have previously done. The primary purpose of this study was to determine students' opinions in regard to inclusive education programs and the effectiveness of these programs.

The subjects involved were 150 high school students from a suburban school district in western New York. Of those 150 students, 114 were regular education students and 36 were special education students. All participants were students in blended English classes.

Included is a review of literature concerning learning disabilities as they relate to self-concept, writing attitudes, ability and overall achievement.
