Practical Recommendations For Mixed Methods Sampling In Psychological Intervention Research: A Mixed Methods Case Study, Analay Perez
Practical Recommendations For Mixed Methods Sampling In Psychological Intervention Research: A Mixed Methods Case Study, Analay Perez
College of Education and Human Sciences: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Sampling is integral to the research process and, if not appropriately addressed, can affect the meta-inferences of the mixed methods study. Sampling is also closely related to recruitment, retention, and additional methodological components. Sampling issues are magnified in social and health sciences intervention research due to the temporal placement of data collection and analysis. Limited research has examined sampling based on researchers’ rationales and decision-making across mixed methods psychological intervention research. This study explored this phenomenon to develop and refine a list of practical recommendations for sampling in mixed methods that were tested using content validity.

Teachers' Values For The Reduction Of Teacher Attrition In Utah Public Schools, Forrest Jensen
Teachers' Values For The Reduction Of Teacher Attrition In Utah Public Schools, Forrest Jensen
Theses and Dissertations
Teacher attrition is a major concern of educational systems. Research has investigated causes of attrition but have primarily neglected the role of teachers' values. The aim of this study is to explore how teachers prioritize four different factors: salary, administrative support, medical benefits, and teaching difficulty. Teachers (448) responded to a survey that asked them to (a) order the four factors by importance, (b) decide between job offers that differed with regards to these factors (e.g., a job with better salary or better administrative support), and (c) report information about teachers' characteristics. Data analysis involved exploring how teachers with differing …
A Comparison Of Sampling Approaches For Monitoring Schoolwide Inclusion Program Fidelity, Hank S. Bohanon, Meng-Jia Wu
A Comparison Of Sampling Approaches For Monitoring Schoolwide Inclusion Program Fidelity, Hank S. Bohanon, Meng-Jia Wu
Education: School of Education Faculty Publications and Other Works
Including students with disabilities requires schoolwide interventions that are implemented with fidelity (adherence). Collection of fidelity data may become problematic when multiple evidence-based treatments exist in one setting. To address concerns around efficiency of data collection, this study hypothesized that the three sampling approaches (proportional, consensus, stratified random) provided similar levels of agreement with an expert rater, thus warranting the differentiation in their applications based on the needs of the evaluators. Three high schools were randomly assigned to one of three sampling approaches (i.e., proportional, consensus, stratified random) to complete a fidelity measure for the implementation of a schoolwide inclusion …

Annual Transitions Between Labour Market States For Young Australians, Hielke Buddelmeyer, Gary N. Marks
Annual Transitions Between Labour Market States For Young Australians, Hielke Buddelmeyer, Gary N. Marks
Vocational, adult and professional education research
This study uses an annual timeframe to evaluate the influence of labour market status in one period on status in the subsequent period. Understanding the role of past labour market experiences is important when it is the objective of policy-makers to increase the proportion of time spent by young Australians in desirable labour market states, such as full-time work, and reduce the time they spend in marginalised activities, such as unemployment. These concerns are heightened during lean economic times, but they never really go away. A natural question that may arise, especially in a weak labour market for youth, is …

G09-1450 Sampling Manures For Nutrient Analysis, Charles S. Wortmann, Charles A. Shapiro
G09-1450 Sampling Manures For Nutrient Analysis, Charles S. Wortmann, Charles A. Shapiro
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Animal manure has long been recognized as a source of nutrients that are normally supplied in fertilizers. Farmers need to know the amounts of nutrients supplied to crops in manure to properly adjust commercial fertilizer rates to meet crop needs while minimizing contamination of water supplies through leaching or runoff. Guidelines for sampling manure for nutrient content to improve crop and soil management is contained in this 2009 NebGuide.

Pisa : Frequently Answered Criticisms, Ray Adams
Prof Ray Adams
Studies such as PISA that attempt to compare outcomes across educational systems are expensive and difficult to implement. Further, the results of such studies are routinely criticized by educational commentators - particularly when the results are not consistent with their preconceived ideas about the relative merits and efficiencies of various educational practices and systems. This chapter discusses what is done to ameliorate the threats to the validity of PISA in five areas often targeted by commentators and reviewers as sources of invalidity in international comparisons. The five areas discussed are: (1) sampling - are the samples of students who undertake …

The conceptions, research frameworks, sampling and some detailed methods are given in this text book. Moreover, some analytical statistical methods are introduced to give insights to researchers. Methods of writing the scientific reports and papers in addition to documentation of references and classifying the required logical process of a thesis are detailed in this text. I introduce this book that was published by the Africa International University in Khartoum, Sudan for the purpose of helping sub and post graduate university students …
Adaptive Estimated Maximum-Entropy Distribution Model, L Tan, D Taniar
Adaptive Estimated Maximum-Entropy Distribution Model, L Tan, D Taniar
Dr Ling Tan
The Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (EDA) model is an optimization procedure through learning and sampling a conditional probabilistic function. The use of conditional density function permits multivariate dependency modelling, which is not captured in a population-based representation, like the classical Genetic Algorithms. The Gaussian model is a simple and widely used model for density estimation. However, an assumption of normality is not realistic for many real-life problems. Alternatively, the maximum-entropy model can be used, which makes no assumption of a normal distribution. One disadvantage of the maximum-entropy model is the learning cost of its parameters. This paper proposes an Adaptive …

Maximum-Entropy Estimated Distribution Model For Classification Problems, L Tan, D Taniar
Maximum-Entropy Estimated Distribution Model For Classification Problems, L Tan, D Taniar
Dr Ling Tan
Classification is a fundamental problem in machine learning and data mining. This paper applies a stochastic optimization model to classification problems. The proposed maximum entropy estimated distribution model uses a probabilistic distribution to represent solution space, and a sampling technique to explore search space. This paper demonstrates the application of the proposed maximum entropy estimated distribution model to improve linear discriminant function and rule induction methods. In addition, this paper compares the proposed classification model with decision trees. It shows that the proposed model is preferable to decision tree C4.5 in the following cases: i) when prior distribution of classification …

G03-1515 Sampling And Analyzing Feed For Fungal (Mold) Toxins (Mycotoxins), Michael P. Carlson, Steven M. Ensley
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Mycotoxins are chemicals produced by fungi (molds) under certain conditions. They are not essential for fungal growth or reproduction, and are toxic to animals or humans. They are naturally present in feed and cannot always be avoided.
The purposes of this NebGuide are to provide information about sampling feeds to detect the presence of mycotoxins in them and about how feeds may be analyzed for mycotoxins.
