Predictors Of Mobility Limitation In Older Adults: A Structural Equation Modeling Analysis, Azam Jafari, Nayyereh Aminisani, Seyed Morteza Shamshirgaran, Laven Rastgoo, Neda Gilani
Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity
Background: In this study, the factors related to the functional limitation were studied simultaneously using structural equation modeling. Material and methods: 1 201 people aged 50 years and older were selected for this study using a stratified random sampling method from health centers of Bukan city in the northwest of Iran, in 2017. Trained interviewers collected information on demographic characteristics, socio-economic status, physical activity, history of falling/fear of falling, visual and hearing condition, associated illnesses, social support, cognition, depression, assessed functional limitation and mobility of study participants. The structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. Results: The participants’ …
Predicting Parent Attendance For Group-Delivered Pcit Workshops In Head Start Centers, Jennifer Tannehill
Predicting Parent Attendance For Group-Delivered Pcit Workshops In Head Start Centers, Jennifer Tannehill
Dissertations
Group PCIT was offered to parents of Head Start children as part of a larger study that investigated the Impact of a Preschool Obesity Prevention (IPOP) Program Enhanced with Positive Behavioral Supports. The dependent variable (DV) in this study was number of group PCIT sessions attended. The independent variables were marital status, income, education level, parenting practices measured by the Alabama Parenting Questionnaire-PR, and responses from the Caregiver Feeding Style Questionnaire. Predictions were made regarding the impact each of these variables had on attendance to group PCIT sessions. An ordinal logistic regression model was used to analyze the data. No …
Person-Level Predictors Of Bullying And Bystander Behaviors Of Middle School Students, Todd Jason Dollar
Person-Level Predictors Of Bullying And Bystander Behaviors Of Middle School Students, Todd Jason Dollar
Wayne State University Dissertations
This research examined the ways in which person-level factors (social goals, self-efficacy for defending, moral disengagement, and empathy) influence bullying and bystander experiences of middle school students. Participants (N = 207) in grades 6 to 8 (ages 11- to 15-years-old) who were enrolled in a suburban Public School Academy (i.e., charter school) middle school located in Southeastern Michigan completed a self-report questionnaire on one occasion. Multivariate analysis of variance revealed gender and grade differences in person-level factors. Gender differences were found for victimization. Females experienced significantly more social victimization than males. Multiple regression analyses revealed a synergistic effect for some, …
Personality Predictors Of Peer-Rated Adjustment And Likeability: A Three-Year Longitudinal Study, Patrick Heaven, Joseph Ciarrochi
Personality Predictors Of Peer-Rated Adjustment And Likeability: A Three-Year Longitudinal Study, Patrick Heaven, Joseph Ciarrochi
joseph Ciarrochi
We hypothesized that girls would be more responsive than boys to opposite sex characteristics that indicated the likelihood of worldly success (i.e., academic ability) and pro-social behaviour (i.e., Conscientiousness (C), Agreeableness (A), and low Psychoticism (P)). Students (381 boys; 389 girls) completed individual difference measures in their first year of high school (Grade 7; Mean age 12.28) and then at approximate twelve month intervals for the next three years. Peer-rated adjustment and likeability ratings were obtained in Grades 9 and 10. Results indicated that the extent a girl viewed a boy as adjusted was influenced by that boy's level of …
Socio-Ecological Predictors Of Participation And Dropout In Organised Sports During Childhood, Stewart Vella, Dylan Cliff, Anthony D. Okely
Socio-Ecological Predictors Of Participation And Dropout In Organised Sports During Childhood, Stewart Vella, Dylan Cliff, Anthony D. Okely
Faculty of Social Sciences - Papers (Archive)
Background: The purpose of this study was to explore the socio-ecological determinants of participation and dropout in organised sports in a nationally-representative sample of Australian children. Methods: Data were drawn from Waves 3 and 4 of the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children. In total, 4042 children aged 8.25 (SD = 0.44) years at baseline were included, with 24-months between Waves. Socio-ecological predictors were reported by parents and teachers, while cognitive and health measures were assessed by trained professionals. All predictors were assessed at age 8, and used to predict participation and dropout by age 10.Results: Seven variables at age …
Personal Best Goal And Self-Regulation As Predictors Of Mathematics Achievement: A Multilevel Structural Equation Model, Magdalena Mo Ching Mok, Michael Ying Wah Wong, Michael Ronald Su, Jim S. Tognolini, Gordon Stanley
Personal Best Goal And Self-Regulation As Predictors Of Mathematics Achievement: A Multilevel Structural Equation Model, Magdalena Mo Ching Mok, Michael Ying Wah Wong, Michael Ronald Su, Jim S. Tognolini, Gordon Stanley

This study aimed to identify personal best goal and self-regulation as predictors of mathematics achievement for primary students. The sample comprised 3,821 (2,021 males and 1,800 females) students between Grades 3 to Grade 5 at 26 primary schools in Hong Kong. Students' personal best goals and self-regulation were used to predict their mathematics achievement six months later. Multilevel structural equation models were fitted to the data using the MPLUS software. Results showed that after controlling for student gender and grade level, students' personal best goal predicted their subsequent mathematics achievement. In contrast, self-regulation had no direct effect on students' mathematics …
Homeless High School Students In America: Who Counts?, John M. Cumming, Gene W. Gloeckner
Homeless High School Students In America: Who Counts?, John M. Cumming, Gene W. Gloeckner
Administrative Issues Journal
After interviewing homeless high school students, the research team in a Colorado school district discovered that many students had not revealed their true living conditions (homelessness) to anyone in the school district. This research team developed an anonymous survey written around the homeless categories identified in the McKinney-Vento federal legislation. Results revealed students who identified as homeless for a portion of their high school years in numbers and percentages alarmingly higher than the district had on file. In fact, over 25 times as many homeless students were identified by this process than by the previously-used district system for identifying homelessness. …
Familial Predictors Of Long-Term Outcome Following Inpatient Treatment For Eating Disorders, Anna Mae Ridley
Familial Predictors Of Long-Term Outcome Following Inpatient Treatment For Eating Disorders, Anna Mae Ridley
Theses and Dissertations
The present investigation examined characteristic, symptomatic, and familial predictors of long-term symptom severity of eating disorders. The purpose of the study was to determine if, after accounting for a number of known predictors of outcome, familial variables explained a significant amount of additional variance in disordered eating and general well-being scores measured at post-treatment follow-up. The sample included 398 women, ages 13 to 56, who had completed eating disorder treatment at an inpatient facility. Hierarchal multiple regression analysis demonstrated that familial predictors at admission to treatment did significantly predict long-term outcomes, while changes from admission to treatment in symptoms and …
"Social Drivers" As Predictors Of Yoghurt Consumption In China, A Lowe, Anthony Worsley
"Social Drivers" As Predictors Of Yoghurt Consumption In China, A Lowe, Anthony Worsley
Faculty of Social Sciences - Papers (Archive)
A survey of yoghurt consumption by female consumers in Beijing showed 42% consuming often, 26% occasionally and 32% never. Consumers were generally younger and more driven by materialistic values than non-consumers. "Social drivers" are presented as a 1001 for marketers to predict the use of consumer products.
