There is a paucity of recent, formal education research that listens directly to students’ views of learning with technologies. Much of the research that has been conducted has tended to focus on evaluating students’ current experiences within a specific course, or concerned with tangible issues such as frequency of computer use, access to computers and the Internet, and evaluations of technical skill levels. Available research has tended to use quantitative or mixed method approaches, with data collected through surveys using convenience samples, Likert scales and free response questions. Penelitian bertujuan menemukan konsepsi guru tentang pembelajaran kewirausahaan, kompetensi kewirausahaan yang dikembangkan pada unit produksi sekolah dalam bidang jasa boga. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif jenis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, ketua program studi, kepala unit produksi, dan siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi dan dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari reduksi data, data display, dan kesimpulan. Evaluasi pelaksanaan teaching factory SMK di Surakarta bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pelaksanaan teaching factory SMK di Surakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan evaluasi model formatif-sumatif oleh Scriven yang menekankan pada evaluasi formatif. Populasi penelitian adalah semua SMK di Surakarta yang menjalankan teaching factory berjumlah 9 sekolah dan respondennya adalah 81 guru pengampu kompetensi keahlian yang menjalankan teaching factory di sekolah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan teaching factory SMK di Surakarta ditinjau dari kegiatan pembelajaran dinyatakan sangat baik (17,28%) oleh 14 guru, baik (39,51%) oleh 32 guru, tidak baik (25,93%) oleh 21 guru, dan sangat tidak baik …

The purpose of this qualitative case study was to examine the development and implementation of a six-week cooperative learning intervention in a secondary school inclusive physical education class that included a student with a mild intellectual disability. The social interaction behaviours of this student with her peers were the dependent variables for analysis. Participants were a 14year old female student with a mild intellectual disability, 26 of her peers without a disability and the Head Physical and Health Education teacher. As part of strategies to improve dog and community health in rural and remote Indigenous communities, this study investigated preferences and impacts of dog health education programs. Semistructured interviews with 63 residents from five communities explored learning preferences. Though each community differed, on average yarning was preferred by most (68.4%) respondents, followed by visual (65.0%) and practical learning (46.9%). Text-based and computer/screen-based learning were important to 16.2% and 14.6% of respondents respectively. With paper-based visual and text resources, respondents reported a preference for locally made (28/36 or 78%) over mainstream resources. Twenty eight residents involved in the creation of locally …

This portfolio presents the author’s current understanding of second language teaching. The main section of the portfolio consists of a teaching philosophy that expresses the author’s believe that definitions of learning direct second language teaching. Three artifacts explore language, culture, and literature and express the development of the author’s teaching philosophy. An annotated bibliography covers the essential readings done in the course of study and provides the foundations for the author’s ontological arguments.

This qualitative study was implemented in an urban, Title I school district in the southern portion of the United States. The problem the study addressed was that the various phenomena pertaining to the implementation of the principal professional learning community (PPLC), as perceived by the 14 participating elementary school principals, had not been examined to determine their influence. Qualitative data were acquired from the principals through personal interviews.

Movement is a vital part of our every day lives, and it is also important for a healthy brain. The following paper examines the shift from movement based learning to a more restrictive rote format, which often has adverse effects on learning. This work discusses the ways in which teachers are under pressure to “teach to the test” instead of creating student-centered classrooms. Some of the side effects of a test-centered approach are low self-esteem (from not meeting strict academic requirements) and behavioral problems in students.

This study explored university education faculty perceptions of their curriculum styles and their influence on the preparation of aspiring teachers. Using Miller’s (2011) curriculum inventory, a sequential explanatory mixed methods design included (N =11) graduate education faculty who self-identified with one of four schools of curriculum design: linear, holistic, laissez-faire, critical theorist. A follow-up focus group was conducted with N = 7 participants, where their views and theories of curriculum were shared regarding effective design and implementation of curriculum, and the transmission of personal theories to aspiring teachers. Several years ago, we introduced the idea of item response curves (IRC), a simplistic form of item response theory (IRT), to the physics education research community as a way to examine item performance on diagnostic instruments such as the Force Concept Inventory (FCI). We noted that a full-blown analysis using IRT would be a next logical step, which several authors have since taken.
