Susan Wink's "Ben Kimpel" Biography Published Posthumously, Mandy Halbert, Ouachita News Bureau

The late Dr. Susan Wink, professor emerita of English at Ouachita Baptist University, authored Ben Kimpel, a biography of the longtime chairman of the English Department at the University of Arkansas. The book was posthumously published earlier this year and is available at on Amazon.com.

Commissioned by the Porter Fund to write Kimpel’s biography in the 1980s, Wink finished only a few years later, but her book was not published until February 2021. The Porter Fund is a nonprofit organization established in 1984 in memory of Ben Kimpel, at Fayetteville, where he taught from 1952-1983.

New Biography, Giving Until It Feels Good, Details Lifelong Service Of Ouachita Chancellor Ben Elrod, Trennis Henderson, Ouachita News Bureau

Dr. Ben Elrod, who served as Ouachita Baptist University’s 13^th president from 1988 to 1998, recently was honored with the release of a biography titled Giving Until It Feels Good – Ben M. Elrod: Arkansas Educator and Fundraiser.

The 82-page biography, written by Rex Nelson and Ian Cosh, was published by WestBow Press, a division of Thomas Nelson and Zondervan. A book signing by Dr. Elrod will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ben M. Elrod Center for Family and Community on the Ouachita campus in conjunction with Homecoming activities.
