The Effect Of Covid-19 On The Physical Activity And Recreational Habits Of University Students, Trinidad Leal Jr., Daniel J. Burt Feb 2021

The Effect Of Covid-19 On The Physical Activity And Recreational Habits Of University Students, Trinidad Leal Jr., Daniel J. Burt

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

Due to COVID-19 a majority of states across the nation were put on lockdown, limiting the recreational activities an individual could partake in, like utilizing gyms and workout studios. Pre and Post-lockdown physical activity, fitness, and recreational habits could be measured through a series of questions using a Qualtrics survey. PURPOSE: The purpose of the study is to review how the COVID-19 shutdowns influenced the level of physical activity engaged in prior to and during the lockdown. Additionally, this study served to investigate how college students have decided to utilize their time recreationally during the pandemic. METHODS: Enrolled …

Effects Of Virtual Reality During Rowing Ergometry On Metabolic And Performance Parameters, Tomas Chapman-Lopez, Nicholas J. Kelling, David J. Arecemant, William E. Amonette, Kirk L. English

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

Physical activity and moderate or intense exercise improve musculoskeletal and metabolic health; however, approximately 80% of Americans do not meet the minimum exercise recommendations from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Exercise intensity may be the most important factor in eliciting positive physical outcomes with exercise. PURPOSE: To assess the effectiveness of a proprietary virtual reality (VR) interface to increase metabolic and physical performance during rowing ergometry. METHODS: A novel VR software program for rowing ergometry was developed. Subsequently, sixteen apparently healthy, recreationally active individuals (12M, 4F; 35.5 ± 13.9 …

Developing A Blended Learning Model In Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Programs: Faculty Development Through Action Research, Eugene Basil Oct 2017

Developing A Blended Learning Model In Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Programs: Faculty Development Through Action Research, Eugene Basil

Dissertations

Public institutions of higher education in Kentucky have been experiencing cuts in state budgets. Kentucky lawmakers have moved state colleges to a performance-based form of budgeting. In this new budget paradigm, an institution’s funding is based on a metric that significantly considers student outcomes. Technical college programs are not currently meeting the quantity, and in some cases quality, outputs required to sustain the economic growth in the community. To increase the capacity, quality, and accessibility of technical programs, the faculty members of the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies division of the Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College implemented a blended learning approach …

A Comparison Of The Frequencies Of Selected Teaching Behaviors Of Trained And Untrained Teachers, Raymonde Antonia Frances Joseph

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The purpose of the study was to compare the frequencies of a selected set of teaching behaviors of trained and untrained teachers in elementary schools in St. Lucia. The dependent variables in the study were the frequencies of Structuring, Questioning, Feedback and Praise behaviors. The independent variables were training, grades awarded at teaching practice, and subject areas.

Records of the lessons were obtained through the use of audiotapes. The behaviors were coded using a low inference observation schedule. The data were analyzed using means and standard deviations. The significance and inferential statistic applied was the chi-square.

Significant differences were found …
