This paper reviews a short case study on High School Students’ opinions of social studies education. This was conducted in response to a 1984 study, “Why Kids Don’t Like Social Studies” by Schug, Todd, and Beery. This study took place at a suburban high school within senior level social studies classes. The students were given an anonymous survey in accordance with IRB standards which asked them there opinions about the social studies classes they had taken. In 1998, the W.W. Kellogg Foundation provided funding for four universities to collaborate with surrounding communities on mutually beneficial projects, through the Expanding Community Partnerships Program. In a series of innovative learning collaborations, East Tennessee University, the University of Texas at El Paso, West Virginia University, and Northeastern University established strong, sustainable partnerships with organizations in their local communities. This study evaluates the relevance and effectiveness of embodied composition pedagogies. The current literature argues the benefit of incorporating the body into the classroom, especially for racially marginalized students. Through literary analysis, three indicators of embodied pedagogy were identified: 1) discussion based learning, 2) multimodality, and 3) process oriented writing assessments. The methods for implementing embodied pedagogy can be identified by these indicators and evaluated for effectiveness. Flipped model of instruction for online instruction is effectively being used by faculty in higher education. What is the flipped classroom? The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture elements of a course are reversed. Short video or recorded lectures are viewed by students before the online session. The online session is devoted to facilitating the knowledge, understanding, and discussion of the content.
