This expository article describes an overview of salient changes made to a baccalaureate curriculum to meet the ever changing demands of health care, professional nursing practice, and post-secondary education. The innovations were embedded in the tenets of complexity science, mandates of our professional practice, the contextual relevance of the curriculum and the scholarship of integrative learning. The curriculum is present and future oriented, evidence-based and relevant. The curricular structure shifts content and pedagogy from the traditional stance. An Exploration Of The Reasons And Purposes Of Non-Japanese Undergraduate Students For Taking A Beginners’ Japanese Language Course, Asuka H. Mashav

This study took place at Florida International University (FIU), a large public research university in Miami, Florida and one of largest Hispanic serving institutions in the United States. The purpose of this study was to explore the motivations of non-Japanese undergraduate students for taking a beginners’ Japanese language course. In-depth one-hour semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 participants before the fall semester of 2014 (Phase I) and 10 after the semester (Phase II). Two major themes emerged from the inductive analysis of the data: attraction to Japanese culture and utility of using the Japanese language. Sub-themes for attraction to Japanese …

Research related to moral reasoning and development has been increasing over the past decade as a result of the business-related scandals of the early 2000’s. Education has been shown to have a strong correlation to the moral development of individuals. Additionally, the rise in online learning has brought a new dynamic to the cognitive moral development of future business leaders. The problem addressed in this study is how an online program impacts the moral reasoning development of undergraduate business students. The students received a certificate of recognition from Ouachita and will be included in the "National Dean's List" for 2014-2015. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must compile at least a 3.5 grade point average and be classified as a full-time student, with a minimum of 12 academic hours.

“My Life As A Family Therapist”: A Journaling Method For Teaching Systems-Based Family Therapy Theories To Undergraduates, Paul A. Johns, Rachel L. Kreiger, Caroline M. Hurff

This paper describes Process Journal: “My Life as a Family Therapist,” an assignment used in an undergraduate marriage and family therapy survey course to facilitate learning of systems-based marriage and family therapy theories. After starting with brief discussion of the value of teaching systems-based marriage and family therapy theories to undergraduates, the authors share detailed information about course content and objectives, following with explication of assignment objectives, procedure, and rationale. The paper concludes with reflections on the assignment that include student thoughts about the task and excerpts from their journal entries.
