Student achievement has always been a critical concern in education, but it has become a particularly passionate issue since the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act in 2002. As a result of the act, standardized tests have become high stakes, and the futures of students, teachers, and schools have been put on the line. Research indicates that there are many negative implications of high stakes testing.
