Using Gps System In Determining The Shape And Position Of School Grounds, John Picarella Aug 2006

Using Gps System In Determining The Shape And Position Of School Grounds, John Picarella

Lesson Plans

Students will use GPS to collect data concerning school grounds and use math modeling to provide a means of presenting and interpreting this data. Students will learn how to use and collect data from the GPS system and upon returning to the class, how that data will result in maps and graphs. Geometry students will graph the data and determine whether the grounds that are being surveyed represent a rectangle or other geometric shape.

Gsp To Contruct A Polygon, Megan Bonnacci Aug 2006

Gsp To Contruct A Polygon, Megan Bonnacci

Lesson Plans

Objectives: Students will correctly identify various polygons and angle measurements. Students will use GSP to construct a polygon. Students will demonstrate appropriate behavior in computer lab.

Properties Of Triangles Using Geometer's Sketchpad, Sarah Heigl Aug 2006

Properties Of Triangles Using Geometer's Sketchpad, Sarah Heigl

Lesson Plans

Objectives:

Students will use Geometers Sketchpad to create sets of similar triangles. Students will be able to give a definition of similar triangles as well as examples.

Exploring Angles, Renee Gambino Aug 2006

Exploring Angles, Renee Gambino

Lesson Plans

The students will investigate the sum of the interior angles of various triangles and conjecture and prove the following theorem: • The sum of the interior angles in a triangle is 180° . The extension activities include conjecturing and proving the following theorems: The sum of the interior angles in a quadrilateral is 360° . The sum of the measures of the interior angles in a convex n-gon is 180°(n-2).

Gsp Circle Geometry Lessons 1-3, Marc Coffie May 2006

Gsp Circle Geometry Lessons 1-3, Marc Coffie

Lesson Plans

Today you will be using Geometer’s SketchPad (GSP), software in which you can create various geometric figures such as points, lines, rays, segments, circles, and arcs, and then interact with them –change their size, measure lengths, angles, etc. Follow the directions below to complete the first project.

Investigating The Relationship Between High School Technology Education And Test Scores For Algebra 1 And Geometry, Richard R. Dyer, Philip A. Reed, Robert Q. Berry Apr 2006

Investigating The Relationship Between High School Technology Education And Test Scores For Algebra 1 And Geometry, Richard R. Dyer, Philip A. Reed, Robert Q. Berry

The standards-based reform movement in education that began in the 1980s has evolved. In the 1990s, the focus was on producing subject-area content standards and modifying instruction. Today, the focus has shifted to assessment, and for technology education, demonstrating the impact on children and the efficacy of the discipline within general education. The purpose of this study was to compare the Standards of Learning (SOL) End-of-Course mathematics performance of high school students who completed courses in illustration and design technology to students who have not completed an illustration and design technology course. The following research questions were developed for this ...
