The education of all students is important in the school system, however, all students learn differently and are at different levels. One strategy that is used to cope with this issue is differentiated instruction. Di fferentiated instruction is when you teach to the individual student's needs by pre-assessing and determining those needs. If the student already know the information you need to move onto something more challenging for them. Often these gifted students already know the information, since they do come into each grade knowing 50% of the curricula, but quite often they are taught it again.

The purpose of this project is to provide students and teachers with a disk of tools to aide in the development of Web pages either in the classroom or through online (distance education) learning. Many of the tools supplied on this disk have been field tested in a high school Web design class. When students are allowed to be creative and are able to fuse interesting visual displays the results can be significant in increasing cognitive and multiple intelligences skills.

The primary goal of this project is to provide a unit of instruction that addresses the critical English skills of oracy, writing, and intercultural proficiency. The curriculum features the social-construction-of-knowledge approach and the socioliterate approach. One purpose of the project is to provide several primary source documents, pictures, video from a reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg, clips from movies about the Civil War, and other material that suppport the students in their learning. The second purpose is to fulffill standard 8.10 of History-Social Science Content Standards for eight grade. This project will help students fulfill this requirement.

This thesis discussess the limitations of the standards-based movement and suggests that some schools, especially those whose mission it is to work exclusively with at-risk students, need to be allowed to set local behavioral standards before any consideration can be given to setting and teaching academic standards. It mainly focuses on Phoenix High School, a community day school in the Corona-Norco Unified School District, and discusses how the standards based movement is not suited to meet the needs of its students.

Effects Of Environmental Factors Present During The Administration Of The California High School Exit Exam On Students' Outcome Scores, Kelly Lynn Coumbe

This study looked at the environmental factors present during testing for the spring 2004 administration of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) in an attempt to quantify some of the factors that were previously only qualitatively reported. Five factors were examined for their ability to predict passing percentages of students on the CASHSEE at the school level. The results indicated that socioeconomic status was the only significant predictor.
