Asynchronous, text-based communication is different from most other forms of interchange in important ways. It lacks the full spectrum of visual and audible information that people depend upon, often unconsciously, in face-to-face exchanges. It also requires different interaction strategies if it is to be used to create maximal educational benefit by and for students and teachers. These techniques can be modeled and made explicit by someone closely following online conversations in the role of facilitator, helping participants to construct online teaching/learning experiences in mutually beneficial ways. Substantial research supports the efficacy of early intervention services for children with developmental delays from birth to age 5. Federal legislation, IDEA, P.L. 101-476, now mandates that states provide services to infants and toddlers (Part C) and preschoolers ages 3--5 (Part B) using either categorical or noncategorical classifications.;Research relative to eligibility classifications and stability of classifications of preschool students transitioning to school age service is limited. This study explored the relationships between racial identity, ethnic identity, and acculturation in transracial Korean adopted adolescents. The research questions were as follows: What is the relationship between racial and ethnic identity for adoptees? What is the relationship between racial identity and adoptees' level of acculturation? What is the relationship between adoptees' level of acculturation and ethnic identity? Research over the past twenty years supports the teacher as the critical factor in the implementation of educational programs. The primary purpose of this mixed design study was to determine teachers' perceptions in implementing the required Algebra I program that was mandated by the state of Virginia in 1995. The research was examined through the lens of the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM): communicating mathematically, making mathematical connections, becoming mathematical problem solvers, and reasoning mathematically. The purpose of this study was to portray full-time community college faculty with doctorates and to identify differences and/or similarities between two-and four-year full-time faculty with doctoral degrees. The author also hoped to explore why community college faculty with doctorates decided either to enter or remain in the community college sector of higher education.;This study used a mixed design to answer the research questions. The National Study of Postsecondary Faculty (NSOPF-93) database was used to answer the first two questions. Implementing State Transfer Policies: A Case Study Of Virginia's State *Policy On Transfer, Lonnie J. Schaffer

Using a collective case study methodology, this policy-oriented research examined how Virginia's state Policy on transfer has been implemented at selected public colleges and universities. A conceptual framework of policy definitions was used to examine how the policy is understood in various contexts and what the policy's effects have been at the campus level.;Based on quantitative transfer data, five community colleges and four state universities were selected for study. The cases captured a wide range of transfer activity and college characteristics with the expectation that different understandings of the policy would produce different effects.
