The primary purpose of this study was to examine the influences between and among the student-centered middle school policies and practices; the adult influences of teacher engagement, teacher readiness, and principal leadership; student engagement and the factors that influence student engagement; and the protective factors that promote resiliency. Self-Efficacy Of Teacher Education Students: A Study Based On Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory , Mary Jo Anderson Lively

This study of teacher education students' self-efficacy was based on Bandura's self-efficacy theory. A critical review of the literature about self-efficacy and teachers explores its "fit" with Bandura's theoretical model. Particular attention is given to the widely used and adapted two factor teacher efficacy scale developed by Gibson and Dembow. The controversy over definitions and interpretations of the constructs is evidence of need for further study. Overall, it appears there is not a very good fit between Bandura's self-efficacy theory and its application in current education research. The purpose of this study was to evaluate specific changes made to the federal need analysis formula between aid years 1992 and 1993. The subjects examined were 1992 dependent student, firm family financial aid applicants at Iowa State University. A random sample of 200 records was drawn from a farm population of 2225 students;Aid applicant data were drawn from the institutions student aid system. These files were then reprocessed using federally approved need analysis calculators. Various computations, with and without assets, were performed using both 1992 and 1993 need analysis. The problem for this study was to design an instrument that would secure student feedback concerning their perceptions regarding their school, teachers, and themselves as learners, and determine if these perceptions and their critical thinking ability were associated with their attendance, gender, academic achievement (Iowa Test of Educational Development), and academic status (grade point average).
