The purpose of this study was to develop a comprehensive health survey for elementary and middle school children, with special consideration for the needs of American Indian communities, in order to provide a way to effectively and economically describe their health conditions. The American Children’s Health Survey (TACHS) is a tool for providing communities, policy makers, curriculum designers, teachers and families with greater understanding of the nature and the extent of the health conditions of children.
